great day at the footy, thought the Bays in patches played some of the footy from like 08 & 09 minor round for the first time this year. Loving the new direct game plan from Massie.

I, and the 2 Port guys I was with, thought the umps were pretty good today and actually let the game go a bit more than they have earlier in the season.

One good thing about the Umpiring was they didnt give red hot holding the ball decisions today
Players were protected today, sometimes over protected, but a better style of umpiring in general

Phew. Bit of a nailbiting finish.

Glad we ran the game out well considering the injuries we had.

Onto South next week.

Hi Booney & Mickey. Nice meeting you lads today.

Very exciting game of footy. Glemelg got smashed in the centre square in the 3rd and that let Port into the game. Our key position talls were the difference between the two teams and a couple off the ball frees against Dolling hurt Port.

What was the story with Port coming out onto the ground just 3 minutes before the game started? Did this have anything to do with there slow start and lack of foot skills.

Easy grandpa, he is just backing up his opinion with fact. I think it would be safe to say that all sturt fans are worrying about our position, were in ******* last for christs sake. 8)

Fwiw, I think you could get as far as the 1st semi as the 3 teams above ya are too good.

Top shelf clash for entertainment & a ball tearer finish.
Good to see our blokes respond again when being seriously challenged. Although it's a worry how we let other sides get a run on.

Lachie Neale (the most baby faced footy player Ive seen) played great in his first match.
Butcher for Port looks a talent!
Umpiring was pretty crap initially. Both sets of supporters getting pretty narky at times. Although to the umps' credit, in the final quarter when the game was on the line, they let it go without any stupid decisions or stuff ups.

Geez' its an interesting season now, with North knockin' off the dogs, just proves there is no easy run to the finals for anyone.
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

Maybe thats why they were trying something different by coming onto the ground as late as possible.

Skill errors hurt Port all day with Surjan gifting the Yabs two goals in a critical second quarter when they skipped away and Port were lucky to be as close to the Bays at half time as we were.

Nice to meet mickey, SJABC, dedja and Pseudo. Pity about the game....

Random observations ...

- Mostly a good game to watch, shootouts are not for everyone, but its a change from a defensive flooding AFL style
- the Bays are playing as a team and for each other ... the hunger is returning
- Port aren't a bad side by any means, passion is there but skills are the downfall
- Meiklejohn is one big mother ... absolutely murdered the Bays in the square
- Kirkby and Kirk up forward, Todd Grima down back ... you know it makes sense
- Panozzo's best game for the year ... was due too
- the Bays still struggle at the forward 50m arc whilst getting there is not a problem
- could have killed the game in the 2nd but frittered away in front of goal ... nearly cost them the game as it turned out
- Port killed the Bays at times with their run through the centre ... not the first team to do this and it's a real concern
- disappointed that Booney forgot to dress in teal
- whilst on Booney ... why stand in an area full of Snouts when you're at your home? :D
- why is there a sign next to the time clock that says 'Alberton Oval'? ... I kinda already knew that
- why won't the powers to be at Alberton listen to the people? ... keep the old bar and BBQ closed at your peril!
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

The MASSIEIAH has a 75 % winning strike rate as a League Coach

Brilliant game of footy overall
34 goals
Last time they played at Alberton there were 18 goals scored in total

Not only was Dedja and Booney at the game, so was Ronnie Fuller

i would have thought snook would be the direct replacement for ty ? :? :?

The last time I patronised the old BBQ at Alberton I got charged $6 for two tepid snags.

Yesterday - at the NEW barbie, between the stands - I got charged $2.50 for the same.

Couldn't they just move the new barbie back to the old spot?

Whereas Glenelg's problem - the most obvious one, that is - has been one slack quarter undoing the work of the other three. It surfaced again yesterday.
