It's OK 'jtc', I think 'Bruce' is understandably a bit sensitive tonight and missed my point, that being not to generalise by
lumping all a club's supporters in one heap. In all my posts on various forums, I've never been called a 'troll' before, so I'm
quite proud, even if undeserving of the title.

To answer JK's post, given the few 'less than humble' posts from 'some' Doggies when others were doing it tough over
the years, I can understand 'N78's' timing to a certain extent. However, I wouldn't be rubbing others noses in a loss ahead
of our game against South tomorrow. Bums do tend to get bitten with agonising regularity and given the Panther's recent
improvement, their confidence against our current line-up and form would seem quite justified.

Without taking anything away from North's splendid result, it's not as though the Dogs were flogged today.

Today I hedged my bets - $10 0n the Rosters at the TAB was a nice return for a tad over $30. Had a feeling we would struggle to maintain the rage against a NAFC club @ home with lots of good ins.
As earlier posts have stated, we cannot win every week and this was a pretty impressive Roosters side.
As for Norwood(man child 78) I would like to think that if you had your time over again you would not post such a limp response on this forum.

Well played by North cleary the better side out on the park today. They took advantage of our weekness which was our lack of tall defenders and continued to kick the ball long and quickly inside 50. While the scoreboard say 19.18 i dont think it reflects how accurate North were infront of goal especially Nick Gill who kicked very well.

Positives for Central was the continued form of Luke Barmby he is fastly becoming a very very very good SANFL player. I also love Wally Waldhutters attack on the contest while he doesnt always win the ball he throws his body on the line every single time.

This year more than any i think we will be relying on the availability of Gunston and Henderson as Havelberg cant continue to be our only key forward.

Disspointing performance but we are still top and im sure lessons will have been learnt by Lairdy.

While Barmby's improvement has been sensational this year, I thought he had a shocker today. Made a couple of crucial mistakes. But it's something he can learn from and become a better player.

Yeah made a couple of crucial errors but his run from half back especially in the first quarter got us going for that brief time we played well. He still has a bit to learn defensively though.

Interestingly at one point our back six were Hardy, Templeton, Reichart, Musolino, Hayden and Waldhutter.

Centrals had 9 players from last years Grand Final play today, 11 players with less than 25 games and 4 of those under 10 games. I don't think any Centrals supporter could be too disappointed with only 1 loss in the last few weeks. I think this season has been more pleasing than previous seasons given the players we have had unavailable for large parts of it.

Actually quite an entertaining match today which was a bit more like the old fashioned footy we used to know.

Gill was a mismatch on Templeton, as was (IMO), Havelberg on Ivens. A key difference was that North had Stewart as well.

There is no question that this year the Dogs have been playing a more attacking brand of footy as opposed the past 1 or 2 - but with the current unavailability of key position players it wouldnt surprise if they revert more to the "dog fight" defensive style which has proved productive come finals time. I cant see Roy wanting to engage in shoot outs like today without the firepower.

Good to see North beginning to show some of the potential they have.

Ryan O'Connor did the same thing. Looked great, got plenty of the ball but he let's you set up and the next kick isn't damaging enough.

Not too worried about the height issue just yet. Obst's loss was always going to sting when his most logical replacements were Henderson and Gunston who both are likely to play a few games for the crows. Might not see them back for the rest of the AFL season either. Down back, we've got Hayes and Sibenaler to come back in and Hardy will be better for the run. Gill was good today (and somehow kicked straight!) but he won't get a kid with a corky every week. I get the feeling North are in a similar position, Havelberg smashed Ivens playing full forward in a side with a badly beaten midfield. If Ivens is going to have to take the best key forward every week they won't win too many.

Was looking at this block of 4-5 games before the split round as a patch we were likely to drop a couple of games. Walking to the game I was even thinking we were somehow a chance to escape winning them all! But not to be, North did the job but one wonders whether the massive celebrations like a bunch of 12 year olds winning a GF after every last quarter goal says something about where they're at right now.

I actually thought that Allan's second quarter, on one leg, was one of the reasons North got back into the game. His use of the ball has improved markedly over the years in the SANFL.

You are correct about North's lack of height in defence. North have been crying out for a Centre Half Back for at least a decade now. They badly need to recruit one.

You have to remember that North have always had a very passionate supporter base, similar to Central and when you have seen your side lose 10 games by a total on 146 points, you are going to celebrate like crazy when you beat the top side. As an aside I remember Graham Cornes saying 30 years ago that the noise coming from the Elizabeth and Prospect Grandstands when their teams got on a roll were easily the loudest and most intimidating in the league. I don't think much has changed in 30 years and I personally think that it's a good thing.

Of course, when you've only won a few games for the year and you beat the top side, why wouldn't you have big celebrations and enjoy the moment. I would. That's what footy's about. We've beaten other teams with a depleted side, but we didn't beat north. Without Allan (for a half) and alleway, makes the win more meritorious. Enjoy.

A few rounds back, someone asked for Doggies supporters to give North credit where it's due after running us close at Elizabeth.
Was a crappy drive home from Adelaide yesdy arvo, getting the score updates through and hearing the mounting shots on goal from North.
Well done to the Roosters on a good win. Turned our deficiencies against us and made us pay for them.
When was the last time top beat bottom? A great win to celebrate and in the context of the season, almost like winning a GF.
We can take comfort from the fact that we have many to come back.
Apart from two points, North can take further comfort from the fact the Francou Regime is heading them in the right direction.

If it was supporters, why wouldn't you, you're supporters were early in the 3rd 1/4

IIRC the biggest celebrations by the players were when Mayes kicked his goals, looked to me like the established players were giving him a huge pat on the back.

North's lack of height in defence would have cost the game if Centrals had even 2 or 3 of their missing talls they had out. We were lucky and as I said pre-game, Ivens is not a key tall defender and Havelberg "towelled" him up easily on the one on ones. It is too much to expect the likes of Ivens, McIntyre, Cunningham and Gallman who have over the past few years been expected to stand blokes 3 or 4 inches taller and generally with bigger bodies too.

Why Francou didn't have Boras and Mason in the side is still a mystery - especially seeing our tallest defender in Miles looked mismatched against Sutherland early and then spent the bulk of the rest of the game in ruck?

This week we get Alleway back and assuming we hold onto Stewart that makes us a little stronger in defence if Allers plays CHB. I would bring him Boras and Mason in and we will lose Allan to injury and leave out Kangar and Hanniford - simple really but some of the selections this year have been baffling?

North needs to go on and close the season now with at least 4 more wins - West, Sturt, Port and South are all very winnable, Norwood and the Dogs wt we have proven we can match and beat the top sides. However which "North" will front at Richmond next week?
