Did you see the PHOS/Portland trial Mazda ? What was your general take on things, from both teams point of view ? I was there, didnt see the injuries to the PHOS boys though - what happened and who were they ?

I thought Portland looked alright had a crack, probably fell in to the trap of doubling back a bit which is harder the higher you go up. PHOS were ok but nothing special Sandford played reserves and he tends to straighten them up a bit.

I was surprised to see Sandford play reserves - made a big impression on Portland's B grade ruckman though, took him aside after the game and gave him a few ruck tips. I can tell you the young bloke was like a sponge to the advice. I thought the biggest difference between the two sides was the finishing off. You are right, Portland did have a crack and IMHO matched PHOS all day for intensity, tackling and attack at the footy. I reckon it was a good hitout for both sides - i know PHOS were a little surprised at the quality of the trial. From Portland's point of view, they were very happy with the effort, just need to work on some of their skills and decision making.

I think the surprise is not knowing what to expect but if Portland can hold the intensity they should do ok. I think the PHOS boys may have started the game with the heads up the place they shouldn't be but soon got the wake up call. Would have been interesting to see another quarter.

I agree about the start of the game Bandar - PHOS took about 10 minutes to get into gear. Its always a little bit easier on the team with nothing to lose, especially early.
I saw Kilburn play Nth Haven Friday night - they have some ground to make up i think. IMHO PHOS were alot better than them, in both grades. Looked to have a very young side.

Is that Kilburn with the young side? We probably have about the right mix at the minute.

Gee FC your pretty confident about your team. Real stuff starts in about 3 weeks. Dont float you boat too early. Good to see Portland have a real crack at PHOS. The game probably had a bit more intensity cos of the difference in grades. The lower grade team is always going to try and step it up a notch. Portland early flag favourites I would suggest.

Not floating any boat Newman, I just said I think we might do ok, if you can see a post here that says that I reckon we're flag favourites I'd love to see it.... coming from div 3 to div 2, It would take a VERY game person to suggest that their team was going to win the flag. You have read too much into it. All I said ( if you read the other post) was that Macca was surprising impressed with our side considering we had half of it out...

I belive in a previous post it was actually you that suggested that Ramblers was going to wipe us up, so assuming you are affiliated with them....who seems very confident now???

If you check the post all I said was that your boys might want to get off the oval as quickly as possible. Traffic busy down West Lakes when the footy is on.

Have had some great battles over the years with PNU nothing greater than beating them in the 2000 grand final at Edwarstown FC. Was a game to remember. Were you at that one FC!! :D

Hmm rumour has it that I watched that game on video just the other day...
Newman there was a bloke running around for your team with a matress on his leg, I think it resembled a youngish looking Paul Marshall.

Div 2... Newman you'd be better off worrying about the GSFL
