Meh lol

Even if they were cheating the salary cap like there would be anything sitting in Grantys office proving it, or anything on site required by the fearless John.

Salary Caps are IMPOSSIBLE to police, scrap it, maybe then clubs will work even harder to make sure they have the finances to remain competitive.

Condon had an appointment, Cdfc knew he was coming. To say he was surprised, apparently, by his greeting party is an understatement.

I understand that, but what honestly would you expect him to find in the offices of the CDFC even if there was no QC's there, im sure if the club was going to the effort of cheating for 11 years they wouldnt be careless enough to leave crucial information lying around.

Salary Caps are pathetic and every competition that has them is rife with rumours, innuendo, speculations about who is and isnt cheating the Salary cap. Its almost as bad as match fixing in the sport of cricket where every game with a fluctuation automatically becomes suspicious.

If you wanted to give a Norwood player 5k through the kindness of your heart, he goes inside your house you give him the money know ever knows.

Um incorrect- Gowans , Callinan, O,sullivan- no need to go on, but you get my drift- cant rely on local guns- juniors arent doing much these days.

LOL

Havent heard of Thomas, Sansbury, Havelberg, O'Hara, Schiller, Dunne

The first two names will more than likely finish 1-2 in the club B&F and dont be surprised if both finish in the top 10 of the Magarey

Centrals aren't cheating the cap. Some players just have jobs they dont need to turn up to and... hey what's that brown paper bag over there? ;)
It's all the SANFL's fault.

wrongarooney again, Our young (local) guys are holding Our side together this season. Callinan-injured, Gowans'-injured, O'Sullivan-just back from big injury. Guys like Waldhuter, Schiller, Dunne, Vater etc., are all local products, We haven't imported anyone for a while now.

Of the 190 odd Premiership medallions won by Central District Players in the last 11 years (spread amongst 62 individual players) only 63 of them have been to import players.

That leaves a fair few local players who have won the other medallions staritski.

..and then what?

This topic has probably resulted from an individual that now has an "axe to grind". Vendetta. How can an individual get away with starting (baseless) rumours, under the guise of R....alph (sure). Whoever the weasel is, they don't have the gumption to disclose any information to support their assertions. If it were true, I'm sure they'd love to disclose it. How can they get away with defaming a club, an organisation, the SANFL, its players and employees without repercussions.
Darren Chandler and Leigh Whicker have refuted it. 5AA shouldn't have given it air time.
What would happen if I were to make up a story, that defamed an individual via a public medium? I'm tipping there's precedent.

The station can ultimately be sued for defamation if something goes to air that is slanderous. They are in control of what is said, even if Ralph isn't known to them they authorise the comments by letting them go to air. Either way, I don't care. I'm confident the club isn't cheating the cap. Have a look at the players we have signed over the last few years. Hardly big name recruits you'd spend serious coin on. We just turn them into better players. Would love to hear who the last non Central aligned player we recruited straight out of the AFL system was, because I don't remember any for quite some time now.

Ironic people were getting into Lawry for chasing coin earlier on, now we're cheating the cap. Can't have us splashing coin around on one hand and losing the only bidding contest we'd have been in if there was one.

Ralph is Michaelangelo Rucci I reckon. It's not a random caller. He was spruiking about Keith Thomas being at Port , Cornes having a farewell game against Collingwood and more - all articles Rucci has sprouted.

A couple of thoughts

When I looked into it, from a club viewpoint the salary cap is at the moment fairly complicated to manage within the rules.

It's not just a case of adding up the contracts of you senior squad coming up with a total under the cap.

Injuries and AFL player participaton (not physically paid by a club but nominally included) do change were a club sits re the cap on a week by week basis.

So errors can & do occur that are not intentional ... most clubs are upfront re these and cop the penalty ... this for mine is not cheating its poor administration.

Then there are the cases where the rules are being deliberately breeched and a cover up system put in place.

Generally these are much harder to discover and the only times these usually are is when a disgruntled former player lifts the lid on what happened.

For mine the best way to keep a "cap" on the competition is to have a double edged system where there is a salary cap but also a open points system ranking players by experience and recuiting location that all can easily see is being met

Can anyone name the last three players centrals actively recruited, that had played at least one afl minor or major round game, that didn't originate from centrals?
What about the other eight clubs?

Rucci today has a two page spread which doesn't say much, but tries to say a lot.

Seems to be trying to suggest how Centrals does its bookwork has some question marks, and that its a big reason it can maintain its list.

nothing much earth-shatteringly new though.
