Not where I work, have accrued 315 sick hours... shame they don't get paid out when you leave...

Ditto, they'll come in handy when giving 4 weeks notice though :D

Amen brother!!

Despite my tough talking over summer and doing all requested around the house plus more, whilst throwing out threats of "That's OK, Footy season will be here soon and I don't wanna hear any ******* whinging when I go every week" along the way ... Have sadly caved and missed a shedload of footy this season :(

Little Miss Boon basketball on Saturday morning, Junior Boon football Sunday afternoon..... :(

Have only been to about 5 Saturday afternoon games and missed a few Sunday Power games too.

Yeah right .. I did not know that - There is my lesson for the day!!

It is dependant on where you work though, some places, reset your sick leave after 12 months, some let them accrue...

We get to accrue our sick leave as much as we want, annual leave to 305 hours or so.

We get half of our sick leave paid out when we leave too 8)

As I posted on here earlier in the week, I've applied for another job.

At work today, the boss grabs me and the missus, and basically says one of us are gonna get the arse because it's quiet.

Yes, I'm going to get another job, but bloody hell, how's about some loyalty???

Thing of the past?

Its definatly in the past.. last week my old man got pulled into the boss' office.

"Sorry Rob, but unfortunatly your position is now redundant and you finish up next week"

So much for 23 years service..... now he is 56, unemployed and stressing just a bit..

If you are the one to stay keep your mouth shut and if you get the new job then pull the pin on him if he is going to be a pr*k........

Having said that in my place of employment I'm considered 'senior staff' even though I've only been there just on 2 years. I have lost count the amount of times I have contributed to farewell gifts in that period

Also had plenty of fore warning of others being shown the door. Very awkward experience that you know their fate yet they don't have a clue

You are questioning their loyalty but stating that you've applied for another job? Cuts both ways mate. You can't expect a business to supply employment if they have no scope for it, if they are quiet it seems pointless to have excess staff on, everyone would be out of a job.

Shower tap breaking.

Going to Bunnings and because no one was around to provide assistance, getting a whole new tap set instead of just the tap head. Meaning going to another Bunnings to get tap head. That's all fixed, and now I have to return to the other Bunnings to get a refund on the tap set.

Half hoping the Crows have a pathetic first quarter so I have an excuse to do that tonight.

When you do the right thing and drop the missus at the airport for her flight to Melbourne where she'll be at a conference for 3 days, and she repays you by leaving her alarm clock on and you are woken an hour earlier than expected the next morning ...
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

and then some.

Did the refund during the second quarter. Spent half time replacing the numbers on the letter box. Spent most of the second half updating Player of the Year leaderboards on the Adelaide board of BigFooty.

A company that I used to work for head hunted a guy from the Hobart office to the Adelaide office. They relocated him and his family. Then things quieted down and they let him go after 9 months on being in adelaide and 7 days before christmas. He was very good at his job, but one of the more influential persons in that group for some reason didnt like him. So he was man to get chopped. Stange really, top bloke, works hard great at his job, his skills were very impressive. He pretty much had 3 jobs arrange before Christmas, so really hes not that bad of, but still it begs the question about loyality.
Also same company...geeez I could tell some stories about them.

How the media are talking about Amy Winehouse as being an icon and her death being tragic

FFS, she was a junkie, who was only more iconic for being a junkie than being a singer... :?
