Reached episode 412 of Prisoner. Wentworth is currently under the interim reign of Minnie Donovan, who is teaching the women social skills such as pick poketing! Meanwhile, the women attempt to hang the Freak, only to be saved by Pixie Mason and new officer David Bridges. Bridges is luring the women into escaping, but is secretly decapitating them and sticking their remains in various parts of the prison.

Reached Episode 417 of Prisoner (416 was the 1983 series final).

416 finished with Lizzie being granted parole to live with her son. While she is waiting in the garden, she discovers one of Bridges victims buried in the garden. Bridges sees Lizzie's discovered the body and informs her she next, triggering a heart attack. Cass, with Lizzie in the Garden sees this, and is lured in the shed by Bridges and a showdown ensures between the two, resulting in Cass beheading Bridges with a shovel. Episode 418 is Lizzie's final appearance in the show, when Minnie, Pixie and Judy visit her in hospital - quite an anticlimatic exit for a stalwart in the show.

Meanwhile, Belinda Johns becomes the latest inmate at Wentworth, but a unique inmate as she is blind. Belinda is played by Jane Turner (of Fast Forward/Kath and Kim fame). Ironically, a few years later, Jane plays Lizzie in Fast Forward's parody of Prisoner (it was funny watching Lizzie and Belinda in the same scenes thinking of this though).

Up to episode 433 of Prisoner, which is pretty much the start of the Myra Desmond era, who's just 'returned' to Wentworth after killing her ex with a beer bottle. This is the era where the show was more comedic than dramatic with the likes of Cass, Bobbie, Judy Minnie and Pixie involved in some fairly comedic scenes and some farcical escapes. First, Pixie 'escapes' while on work release when one of her 'husbands' takes her out for lunch and tells her she's been parolled. Then officer Stan 'the man' Dobson (played by Brian James - who was actually the first person to appear on ATV0, now ATV10, in Melbourne) arranges a glee club for the girls and an entry in a regional competition. However, Reb uses it as a plot to escape, where she drugs the coffee supplied by the competition organisers, resulting in St Meg and Joyce Barry falling asleep and Reb escaping. Phylliss, realising Reb's screwed her over, goes after Reb (after kidnapping the bus drivers kid). Cass then goes after Phyllis and Judy goes after Cass. Bobbie seizes the moment and make a run for it herself, and Minnie goes after her! In the end Phyllis ends up holding Cass, Jude, and the kid hostage in an abandoned shed, while Minnie and Bobbie have a day on the town, funded by pickpocketing!

While all this is going on, fellow new officer Rick Manning has realised former mate (and Sonia's husband) Eddie is on the take with the Fellowes gang, and the gang want him dead. They decide to plant a car bomb in his car, but Colleen Powell's husband takes the car to be repaired with their children and the bomb explodes, killing Colleen's husband and children (another on Prisoner's infamous rehashed storylines, given Jim Fletchers family was also wiped out by a bomb earlier in the show).

Reached episode 442 of Prisoner (only 250 episodes to go).

The main change is the officers uniforms - they've gone from the timeless blue shirts/grey jackets and pants to a khaki uniform that doesn't age as well. Speaking of officers, Colleen is slowly recovering from watching her family being blown up and subsequent drinking problem.

The return of some old favourites also continues - first it was Helen Smart, followed by Doreen Burns and now Margo Gaffney making another appearance. Part of Gaffney's return to Wentworth was that Sonia Stevens and Bobbie Mitchell (who cried rape when Rick Manning turned her down) were to be transferred to Barnhurst. However, the cop car is hijacked by the Fellowes gang and Stevens and Mitchell are off to Sydney, where Ray Meagher makes his second appearance on the show as the local drug lord.

I only caught a glimpse of it on Fox when they first started to re-air it, and thought it looked quite interesting. I’m annoyed I missed it and therefore couldn’t start watching.

Like most dramas, if you start watching a few consecutive eps you'll quickly catch on with what's going on.

Up to episode 453 of Prisoner

Bobbie is returned to Wentworth after a chance meeting with The Freak in Sydney (who was visiting her ill father). Just before Joan catches Bobbie, there's a comical scene where a drunk mistakes Joan for a prostitute, until he sees her face and thinks she a bloke!

Meanwhile, Blackmoor is introduced into the show as a maximum security facility (we don't get to see the prison though until episode 665), and Margo becomes the first inmate transferred to the 'black hole'

Also, one of the very few storylines that have dated is happening - Hannah Gelschmidt, an East German refugee who escaped a Nazi concentration camp as kid, is in for assault, and for entering the country on a forged West German passport. As a result, she's facing deportation back to East Germany. So the girl is not only terrorised by the thought of being returned to East Germany, she still has nightmares of the camps, one of which shows Joan (as a Nazi officer) terrorising a young Hannah (Joan was actually trying to wake her up from her nightmare).

And Dr Edmunds is in doing some 'psychiatry' on the women and staff. Using hypno therapy, he's turning Phyliss into a lady, Meg into a mini-Joan and Cass into a serial killer (though she doesn't end up killing anyone else). He's also two-timing Meg and Ann

Reached episode 461 of Prisoner

Colleen Powell has sold her house and is now galavanting around the world without a worry in the world. She invited Meg to tag along all expenses paid, but she declined, and has become the new deputy governor. Colleen is replaced by Dennis Cruickshank, a pom who was an officer in boys juvenile detention centres but wanted an officer role that allowed more compassion. Rick Manning also leaves to take up a role with juvenile offenders, replaced by the ditzy Heather Rogers (played by Victoria Nicholls of Sale of the Century fame), who is mates with recent inmate Marlene 'Rabbit' Warren, who thinks life is one big joke (she's in because of a practical joke gone wrong - she's even smirking in her mug shot). Heather has to pull rank on Marlene quite a few times.

Meanwhile, Myra, desperate to get her daughter off drugs, escapes during the prison fete. Reb and Phyllis use the fete to smuggle drugs in a plant, but Cass sells the plant to her brother, and in a scuffle to get it back, Dennis knocks Bobbie over, resulting in a miscarriage and Cass entering a psychotic rage against Dennis that sees her committed. Reb, filthy with Phyllis over the foiled drug smuggle, bashes her senseless and joins Cass in the asylum.

Also, Marie Winter is back, and asserts her authority by declaring that 'fat guts has just been demoted'. This also means a riot is not too far away.
