Looks as though Marquardt has been struck from the UFC after testing positive to steroids only days out from his fight with Rick Story in UFC Live 4.

Brenneman was a late replacement for Marquardt and ended up winning via decision over Story.

UFC 132 was awesome. Leben won me a bit of money too. Was hoping that fight would go a bit longer than 27 seconds though, at least one round of bangin'.

Just remembered that I read somewhere that all main events (except for those already scheduled) will from now on be 5 round fights even if they aren't title fights. Like it.

Very shocked with Tito and (to a lesser extent) Leben winning. That'd surely be the end for Silva. Great submission by Tito though, I really thought the 'game' had passed him.

The Faber/Cruz fight was great. I'm not normally one to enjoy the lighter weighted divisions but this was a great fight between two very different but very evenly matched combatants. Personally, I thought Cruz won it in a close one.

Melvin Guillard is good, but is still flirting with form IMO. Yeh, he looks good but lowering your hands against some of the best like he does might find him out. He's fought some good fighters but I can't wait till he steps up and fights the elite to see how good he is.

thumbs down....

title fights should be held regarded as the "ultimate" bout, and hence 5 rounds does them justice.

Tito with nothing to lose I guess. Might be a bit of a yawn.

Apparently Machida turned down the fight.

I do agree with you in some sense, but there does seem an unfulfilled ending when a main event between 2 top ranked guys goes to decision after 3 rounds, so Im happy with the decision, I've never been a Tito fan but gee he was impressive against Bader and i wouldnt be surprised if he backs it up with a win over Rashad.

I think we'll see better title fights because contenders will have the opportunity to fight a 5 round fight if they can secure a main event. The move is purely for money/marketing purposes, however, I think it has the potential to raise the standard of fighting just a touch.

Love him. Hate him. He's back.

http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/1/One-Mans-View-Neither-Choir-Boy-Nor-Devil-34018

When Chael Sonnen returns against Brian Stann at UFC 136 on Oct. 8, the fight game’s most polarizing figure will bring unrivaled promotional possibilities and plotlines into the cage with him.

In Stann, however, the normally irascible and contempt-spewing Sonnen does not have an easy target. There will likely be no mean-spirited potshots about Stann’s background -- Naval Academy graduate, United States Marine Corps Captain -- as Sonnen issued against middleweight champion Anderson Silva before UFC 117. Stann was awarded the Silver Star for his combat actions in Iraq, hardly anything even a veteran baiter like Sonnen would be tempted to prod in the pre-fight buildup.

Or so I assumed. I asked Sonnen that same question in a recent interview. Could he possibly delve into the old routine given Stann’s squeaky-clean, iconic image?

“Stann is the man. He’s one hell of a patriot,” replied Sonnen. “That guy makes apple pie look like an Israeli dish.”

So will we see a kinder, gentler Sonnen?

“I wouldn’t count on it,” he said.

UFC 136 (Oct 8th) will also feature two title fights - Edgar vs Maynard & Aldo vs Florian. Huge card.

After all the twitter sledging aimed at the brazillians competing in the UFC its a bit of a surprise they matched Sonnen against Stann, he's built up an impressive list of enemies since he's been out!

What needs to get better in the UFC is the judging! It's horrendous at the moment.

Fedor knocked out by Hendo in the first round on Sunday, time for him to give it away, also theres an interesting interview with Dana White on the Sports Illustrated website, worth a read.
