Unfortunately for you the Stats back him up....

Unfortunately for you that argument doesn't stack up.

Perhaps we are more disciplined than other teams. Because the player with the ball would get a greater percentage of free kicks than the tackler, perhaps when the opposition get the ball we are nowhere near it and get less of a chance to give free kicks away for poor tackles, etc.

From those statistics you can conclude that the Eagles have the greatest difference between frees for and against, but you can't conclude that we are protected by the umpires.

OK that's one free kick - what's your opinion on the other 573 that have been paid in Eagles' games so far this year?

Just FYI, if you read the review thread on this game you would realize that I said that this free kick should not have been paid in my opinion. I also highlighted 3 goals that Sturt got from free kicks which I thought were very iffy, so using your logic based on a sample of 4 free kicks it means that we get a bad run and Sturt are protected.

The Eagles' differential between frees for and against is 42, or about 3 per game - hardly a charity case.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you are trying to back it up, have an argument based on more than just a single free kick in a poorly umpired game and someone else's opinion on one game that has involved the Eagles.

Can't agree, cicca's last quarter got us back in the game. Took a great mark & goaled, gave off another pass & resulting goal to rimmo & got inside grima's head resulting in a 25 metre penalty, and pathetic defence. I think massie must have also agreed that grima's efforts behind play were pathetic, because he got moved quick smart when grocke got hold of him whenever the ball came down.
