You might be opening up a mine field here quoting the name Ebert and the soft father son rule in the same post ;)

The only reason Brett Ebert is on the Power list is because someone stuffed up in the interpretation of this rule - They didn't take into consideration the 'years in which they were achieved' criteria regarding Russell's SANFL games record.

Mate he did say gun players though. Pretty certain he was referring Ablett, Cloke, Watson etc although Ablett is a moot point now, but still I would suggest some of those teams have done fairly well from the father sun rule.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

With the propects of both Carlile and Trengrove possibly leaving at years end, you would think Port would have to offer 1 of them big money to stay. Would be a massive hole in the Port Backline to loose both!

If it came to that Hawk, port would throw the kitchen sink at trengove you would think. More talent and prospect in his left shoelace than carlisle will ever have.

As a part time Power supporter locked out from posting by my primary allegiance to the Crows, I'm a bit concerned the Power fan site on this forum is dying for lack of interest.
That last two times I've viewed it there has been nothing new there, and today there is only this discussion about the Crows and one non-supporter's comments: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=33281

The separate boards suck too BTW. I have a genuine interest in Port, much more over the Crows, yet can't post my thoughts about blokes I've seen a fair bit of this season playing for the Bays in the match threads etc.

And when you post a perfectly valid series of questions the precious delete the post.

I'll repeat;

Is this a Port of Melbourne home game ?

Bloody Darwin. You need to win there. If you don't that's two straight losses as teams don't often come up after a match up there.

I’m just saying maybe this is a good thing???
By all reports next years draft is the 2001 equivalent (the famous superdraft of Hodge, Ball, Judd, Bartel, Ablett and co.)
I also believe that the priority picks return to being before round 1 (correct me if I’m wrong) and the concessions to the new clubs are significantly reduced. Short term pain, long term gain?

So 2 "away" games in Darwin for Port. Did they receive any compensation to play up there?

I don't believe so. I would think the added exposure to an already sympathetic NT market twice in one season would be of benefit. Port, over the years, have had many NT players and with our first few games up there in the mid 00's fielding sides including Wanganeen,Pickett, Burgoyne ( x2 ), Motlop and co. we have reportedly a strong following within the Indigenous community up there.

And, to be honest, if a Melbourne based club is willing to sell a game to the NT to play Port I think we would rather play them on neutral ( yet familiar ) territory as opposed to a ground in Melbourne and give them some advantage.
