Webber after looking like being behind the McLarens' and Alonso (and maybe a couple of others) for a lot of the session did well to lock up a front row spot. Good start tomorrow and he might pinch the lead. From there, anything can happen behind you. Red Bull aren't noted for their good starts so he'll no doubt come under pressure early if he gets away poorly, but the guy on the other side is in the same car with the same start issues so a decent start might get the job done.

Been waiting all season to see whether Webber could bring out the form that saw him lead around 100 consecutive laps last season. Clearly outclassed over the journey he does have the car and ability to run second in the championship.

Was mentioned last night that he is year to lead a lap this season, while Vettel has led 80%

Another poor drive by Webber again, ive got to accept he is just not good enough. Constantly slower than Vettel by a fair bit he even got overtaken by Alonso.
Alonso was pulling away from Webber and then Webbers geabox developed problems with 3 laps remaining.
Vettel wins from Alonso,Webber,Hamilton,Massa

A bit of a contradiction there. In addition, Webber also had brake issues in his first stint. Are you blaming Webber for all this and the gearbox issue at the end? Taking all that into consideration, plus what's gone on previously this season with his team mate only having one mechanical issue of any note, and I think Mark has done well, and drove a solid race today. No surprises about Alonso in 2nd. He is the class of the field when it comes to drivers at the moment.

BUT! Very poor strategy from Mark's side of the pit...to pit before Alonso on the 3rd stop, well, that was never going to work. For whatever reason you don't see the same issues on the other side of the RBR team. This is the closest Mark has been to Seb over a full weekend since Spain. We might see it more even yet at Silverstone I feel..

His KERS didnt play up until later on in race. What frustrates me is that Vettel had a sluggish start yet within 5 laps he was over 2 seconds up on Webber. Mark just doesnt seem to be able to match his team mate for speed, vettel is a good driver but it just seems he is constantly far quicker than Webber and the car is not always to blame. For the first dozen laps vettel blew him away.

Daniel Ricciardo is set to make his Formula 1 debut at the British Grand Prix for HRT as replacement for Narain Karthikeyan.

After discussions between the Spanish outfit and Scuderia Toro Rosso, for whom Ricciardo is a test driver, it is understood that a deal is close for the Australian to be drafted in to a race seat at Silverstone.

That's great to have another Aussie in F1, but I was hoping he would replace Alguersuari at STR :?

He has no hope of qualifying in the top 20 in an HRT car. The best we can hope for is that he outqualifies Luizzi on a regular basis.

I hope it's not a bad move and that he can prove himself somehow in the worst car on the grid (by a long way)..

That is what the whole deal is for. They want to put him up against Luizzi, a driver they know the abilities of well, and see how he compares to him. I think Alguersuari's good performance at Valencia has saved his bacon!

Not much action with the rain at the moment.

Webber was quickest by 0.6 secs in P1

Ricciardo is in a no lose situation here. He's supposed to come last by some distance. But if he shows anything people will be happy. If he gets around and finishes the race, puts in some good laps and shows some poise they'll be satisfied. If he puts pressure on anyone in the field, he'll have done well and if he passes a few cars he'll have done magnificently.

Puts it into a wall/another car at turn 1 people will just chalk it up to a rookie mistake from a kid trying too hard.
