Regarding the umpiring standard in the SANFL this year, I have a feeling that things have changed in the way umpires are being told to adjudicate. Supposedly, because there used to be a rules gap between SANFL and AFL (ie different rules and different interpretations), this was impacting on the ability of SANFL umpires promoted (or not so) to the AFL. Nowadays I think the AFL wants to ensure that the SANFL is truly a feeder league for its umpires as well as players. Hence, why we are all so frustrated.
The Legs won after the bye, which IIRC is a pretty rare feat this season. Fortunately, it's the second time for us this year. I always hate playing teams further down the ladder on days like today as the weather is such an evener of two teams. I'd rather play against a top side in those conditions as even if you lose, you're unlikely to be trounced. The weather certainly negated the opportunity for Walker to have a big scoring influence on the game, which in the absence of Cunningham and having faced Norwood twice with Walker this year, the Cocks would have appreciated.
North can take some heart from the result (esp without Allan) and maybe if Alleway hadn't snapped earlier in the last quarter, they could have had a better result.
Anyone know the final reserves score and final u/18s score today?
