Sturt vs Port game review thread

Postby Mopar Dog » Sat Jul 09, 2011 5:56 pm

Sturt 5 8 38
port 15 20 110

Port by 72 points.

Season over for sturt you would think.

To my calculation ports has a % of 50.51 so they should sneak ahead of west. Although west have a game in hand.

Sturt have been pretty good this season on their home deck, not the result I tipped!

Great win. Probably should have won by more really - 35 scoring shots to 13.

Very happy to get the win today and what a 1st qtr!!

Should have won by 100+ but really took the foot off the pedal once the lead was established.

Good to see Lokan get to stand someone who is fatter and balder than he is ;)

Sturt were pathetic. You said it... and I'll continue to bleat that keeping Norman in the seat does nothing but put the club further and further behind the 8-ball. My mail is that a number of players who left the club just can't stand him.

Regardless of whether he is doing his best or not, you can't sack the team and therefore the coach is the one that has to make way in order for the club to turnaround.

So once again... SACK NORMAN!!!

I'd put Mickan in right now if he wanted the role... there's no excuse to not speak to the man at the very least. My money is on us signing him up, as I can't see Sturt going for another risky no-name coach.

Too bad Lokan made a fool of himself at game end by getting into a verbal stoush with the crowd and then giving the one-finger salute, poor form and shows that the guy can be rattled by fans. He should be above that and be content with the win.

Besides, I wouldn't be too cocky when you're one of the few Port players in their history who has won nothing...

Pretty sure the big fella is contracted to Sturt for 2012, clearly Sturt could still make a change, but need a serious injection of coin to make it happen. :?:

That would be pretty disappointing if that's the case... I thought he was on a 3 year contract from 2009-2011 inclusive.

When was the verbal stoush? couldnt have been too bad, i was next to the race as the players went in, and there were no comments by any Sturt fans, even toward their own team..

And seeing we havent won a gf since '99, there aren't any current players that have tasted league GF success in a magpies jumper :(

For someone so close to the club, you would think you would know how long his contract was.

I'm not close to the club! At least I don't think so...

... I'm just a vocal member at the AGMs and have done some time helping the club out in the past.

Apart from that... I have no special place at the club.

That aside, I believe it is 3 years from 2009-2011... but I stand to be corrected.

I know where you're coming from... but clubs tend to not like their players abusing the fans, bad press and all that.
