Not sure if anyone has had a bet on this...

I put a couple on earlier, didn't expect the happenings of the first 2 stages to have Cadel already 1min 45 ahead of Contador.. insane!

I got $15 on Evans @ 30 (Betfair) into 11s now
$15 on Evans Top 5 @ 5.57 (Betfair)

Tonight's stage, Cavendish is 1.77 favourite and it does appear to be suited perfectly for him.
The value would be Farrar at 8s

Farrar wins :D

Stage 4 tonight - The finish is suited to the man in form this year, Gilbert but @ 1.77 it's too short for me.

The value is Evans @ 13s. Appears in real good touch and after his stage 1 ride just behind Gilbert, he's overs at this price.

What a win that was! I still feel that the Schleck brothers and Contador will be his main threats, Evans is definately due for some luck in this years tour. Saturdays stage will be one of the first defining mountain stages.
For those of you in the know, will these fast finishes Evans has put in to try and win line honours in stage 1 & 4 take its toll. My gut feel is that if he keeps flogging himself to try get stage wins, he'll blow up again in the individual time trials later in the race like last year (i realise he was not healthy last year though).

Quietly confident this year, but cautiously confident. BMC showed that they may be the real deal last night!!!!!!!!

On fire here!! Don't exepct it to last boys, really tough stage tonight to pick.

As far as getting on Cadel now, he's into 9's and not sure if that is really overs anymore remembering Andy Schlek is only 12 secs behind him. Happy with my 30s!!

And I don't think it will have taken much out of him, last night's stage was suited for his riding style so he was always going to be in the finish. And remember Contador put as much effort in as Cadel last night and first time I've seen real pain on his face which could be a good sign for Cadel.

Stage 5
So many possibilities especially with it going along the coast and forecasted strong winds. Could see the peleton split into two, could see a breakaway stay away finally or it could just be a bunch sprint. Too hard to pick a winner from first two options so gonna hope for a bunch sprint and pick the winner there
Cavendish is $2.20 fave but he looks out of touch and there's couple small mountains tonight which he will hate.
Will take the 23s available for Rojas but not confident on it tonight, need some luck

Nice rundown here Mopper, are you a cyclist or just follow the sport? You've been spot on so far.
Do you plan to trade off against Cadel in coming days?

Nah hardly a cyclist, ride a bit over summer for footy fitness, bout it

Just got couple knowledgable friends and read the forums so have a little knowledge, certainly not as much as some. TDF is awesome though, the commentators explain all the tactics throughout the race and somehow make a bunch of dudes riding at a leaisurely pace entertaining. Certainly helps having lots of Aussies on fire

Might trade off a bit later of he comes right in, but also got a Top 3 bet as back-up so might let it ride.. pun intended!!

Look to back a Frenchman for the stage victory on July 14 - it's Bastille Day and the French riders all look to get a stage win on this day. (Not unlike Farrar getting a stage win on July 4 - American Independence Day).

And in the stages on the Spanish Border - look to back a rider from the Basque team, Euskadil - they also like to try and win mountain stages near or in their home region.

There's a dedicated TDF thread in 'other sports' as well, if you're interested.
Steve Bradbury and Michael Milton. Aussie Legends.

With Rojas closely behind in 3rd.. Bugger!!

Gonna go with the Aussie Boy tonight in Goss @ 38s. $5 each way

Can't see Cav getting over the couple hills and reaching the finish in the front group giving the green light for Goss to go for the stage.. well lets hope!

Contador has crashed twice so far. Schlek has been in horrible form. This year or never for Cadel.

Thanks Big Al,
If Goss had started his run a lil earlier or closer might have had the win, still will take 2nd, think got odds of $6 for top 3 finish

No bet tonight, think Cav will be too good but wasn't going to take the $1.67

Put $15 on Hushovd couple nights ago for Green jersey, not really sure how that will pan out but figured $9.50 was probably overs
