Funny no-one has mentioned this, and I have over the years spent much time wondering about it.My ancestors.I would love to see how my direct bloodlines spent much of the last 200 years.Of Welsh background, and from what I can gather a very working class family (if they were lucky enough to work) I think it would be fascinating.

I'm not saying I wish to live like them, just see how they lived.

Many famous names come to mind too.

Bradman.
JFK.
Churchill.
Hitler.
The original Dr.Cooper.I love him.

There is a lot of mythology about Dunstan. He is the cause of many of the problems we have in SA today, no railway system to speak of, no decent cross city transport system. Dunstan sold the railways and much of the land that had been purchased for the MATS freeway system, to balance the books, he was the first of that breed of politicians who see no further than the next election, no grand vision, Mike Rann is a fitting heir. Many of the social and artistic reforms he took credit before were begun under the Hall/Millhouse government that preceeded him. Having said that he was colorful and helped the state throw of our wowser image, but he was certainly no saint. My list in rough chronological order.

Homer (ancient Greek bard, not simpson)
Leonidas I King of Sparta (died 480BC)
Aristotle
Alexander the Great
Julius Caesar
Alfred the Great
Harold II last Saxon king of England killed at Hastings
Genghis Khan
Elizabeth I
Francis Drake
Leonardo Da Vinci
William Shakespeare
Magellan
Charles II tolerant partying king
Samuel Pepys
Isaac Newton
William Dampier
James Cook
William Bligh
Robert E Lee
Abraham Lincoln
Louis Pasteur
Charles Darwin
Robert Koch
John Monash
Ned Kelly
Howard Florey
Winston Churchill
Josef Stalin
Dr Josef Goebells (much more interesting than Hitler, as he was educated and highly cultured not your stereotypical Nazi)
Yuri Gagarin
John Curtin
JFK
Werner Von Braun
Neil Armstrong
Margaret Thatcher
Nelson Mandela

Aristotle eh?
Reminds me of the Cockney rhyming slang...

Aristotle - bottle - bottle & glass - arse = ARIS

Fascinating bit of trivial bullshit there, eh folks?

I got the information I quoted from a CIB officer in Adelaide back in the early 1990s before I moved to Melbourne.

I'd be careful about taking certain quarters of the SA Police at face value.

And a few other things over the years.

There have been some ridiculous rumours about Dunstan and other pollies...

Fair enough Booney! I was unsure of how open it was possible to be after so long, but I figured the moderators could decide. There was another similar death more recently around another SA based pollie, but I knew that one was too recent to comment on.
