Corolla slays the new Commodore

Its great for people who are four foot nothing to say that big cars are dinosaurs.
I originally was a Holden man but found the XD falcon the biggest car around for my long legs and hence became a Falcon man.
Having said that, the Commodore I drove around Southern Queensland 18 months ago had more leg room in it than any other car Ive driven before.
Im in the market for a new car and its out of the Falcon XR6, Toyota Aurion Sportivo and Commodore SS.
Its not because I have a small dick or want to drive fast, its simply because I need comfort especially if driving the kids interstate.
With my dicky knee and my long legs I would be lucky to make BorderTown in a Corolla or something similar.

I thought the rebadged Daewoo's marketed in Aus. as Holdens had a 4 cyl. engine that is built by Holden in Melbourne.

I currently drive VN & VY Commodores, i actually find the VN has more leg room, but the seats in the VY are much more flexible, for example the height, you can pin point where you want it in the VY, where as the VN there was only 3 level to choose from.
The VE SS i drove was very good, while i thought the seats looked crap compared to other SS Commodores, it was much more flexible than any other Commodore, while keeping the leg room.

How often do you tow a trailer/ caravan/boat?

How often do you travel long distances?

Small cars do not suit everyone, when both my kids are grown up, left home, and I don't do any more long distance travel, then I might consider a smaller car.

If we were all knobs like you, we'd have no car manufacturing in Australia.

Its no suprise the Corolla is doing so well because the population is aging. If I end up buying an Aurion Im hoping all it will be as realiable as the Corolla.
Daughter was skeptical as she'd never heard of an Aurion, we stopped at the Toyota dealer on the way home tonight to show her what they're like and she's won over already.
Full test will be next Saturday morning when I take the Aurion Sportivo, the XR6 and the SS for a test drive. Not sure if the Aurion has a "real" manual as Im keen to start changing gears again, bored of Autos.

Just sussed out the website, probably only the SV6, looking at something around the 38-39k mark.
Mind you having said that, the SV6 doesn't look as good as the XR or Aurion Sportivo so it might be down to 2 again.
Mind you the SS does look like its worth the extra 5 grand, could throw an extra spanner into the works!

As compared to the VE SS the VE SS V was, (manual) $50,700 i think (Approx $5000 more than SS) comes with Leather interior Sub Woofer Colour coded interior and quite a few other things though.

50k is out of my price range, Ive got to draw the line somewhere.
Not big on leather or Sub Woofers in cars anyway.
Im getting old these days, find myself turning the radio down and not up.
If I was going to go up to 45k or above I'd probably get a Territory.

The Standard SS without the extras is around $45,000 without the 15% off, its more or less the same as what an SV8 was for VY & VZ.

I used to be a Holden man, then moved to Japanese sports models briefly. I haven't bought anything but German or Italian cars for many years. Having had two Italian sports cars I wouldn't buy a third - they are nice when they are running, but German stuff works!
