ricky oloughlin

Nathan Ablett, the Murray brothers that went from Port to St kilda, Luke Ottens

Nah. Not having this. Nathan Ablett wasn't really deserving of an AFL spot and is a lazy **** but he could play. Consider this, he managed to make a go of AFL football despite not going through the underage ranks in the normal way. He had just natural ability (like all Abletts) even though working hard on the track didn't come naturally (like at least one other Ablett).

He was very much a work in progress when he chose to walk away from league football and kicked over 30 goals in our premiership year. People might say 'so what the Cats were gunnage back then' yes that was true but you've still got to beat a man.

Nate would have been a top player if he wasn't such.............................an Ablett. But if his name wasn't Ablett we would never have heard of him.

Poor call.

Put Podsiadly up front in Geelongs 07 side and he would have kicked 60.

Nate = Spud.

Whats your name lad?

Nathan, Nathan Ablett.

What size guernsey you take?

Of course he would have Booney, Pods is a seasoned footballer. Nate got his gig just as you suggested and still managed to play some decent footy for us, including during the 2006 season when we were going about as well as Essendon are now. We never got to see the best of Nathan Ablett because he couldn't be arsed, not because he couldn't play.

Have to agree there REB. Pods has got a gig now because of workrate and yes would have been influential in their 07 outfit IMO. Its a shame we never got to see the best of Nathan....looked the goods for geelong that year. Hate blokes with talent and dont use it.

Agree a bit harsh and was an article in Advertiser about 3 or 4 years ago about his current plight which wasn't good.

Kingsley. Gun! Kicked 50 goals on three separate occasions. Go Kingsley...well that's what we all said and finally he did!

Which reminds me of the situation of former Power listed Luke Peel who I think was not selected for even reserves action on one occasion.

Broadbent - Shows you dont watch the game much, this bloke has played 20 odd games and is developing nicely. Will be a sound mid-fielder.

Butcher - Hasn't played an AFL game yet. Good call.

Pettigrew - Has been a servicable backman who just hit 100 games.

Even people like you must realise playing 100 AFL games gives you some sort of credibility.

I remember the Crows n Power swapping 2 of the worst players ever in a pre season trade.

I. Downsborough - B. Chalmers

Surely both clubs were just having a bit of fun.
