As always the Sri Lankan board very late in announcing dates and venues.

I'd rather Usman over Hughes or Smith- even Hussey. The XI I named is the realistic team I expect to see.

CAMERON White and Callum Ferguson are the frontline casualties of Australia's World Cup blow-out, axed from next month's one-day tour of Sri Lanka.
However, burly Victorian batsman White retained the captaincy of the Twenty20 side for the two game series that precedes the one-day and Test series in Sri Lanka.

Australia fell at the quarter-final stage in a bid for an unprecedented fourth straight World Cup with White's batting falling apart averaging 17.5 in seven innings before being unseated by Ferguson on the one-day tour of Bangladesh.

"Cameron White is unlucky to be omitted from the one-day squad having been a regular and successful member of the squad for the last few series," national chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said.

"Cameron lost his position in the side during the recent one-day tour of Bangladesh but the national selection panel is confident that he will force his way back into the team through weight of runs."

Versatile batsman Shaun Marsh returns to the 50-over fray after his World Cup hopes were sabotaged by injury while David Hussey was reinstated to both the T20 and one-day squads after missing the Bangladesh tour due to the birth of his first child.

"The one-day squad sees the return of Shaun Marsh who was unavailable for the ICC Cricket World Cup through injury," said Hilditch.

"Shaun can open the batting but also provides flexibility throughout the order and gives the squad great balance."

Victorian wunderkinds Aaron Finch and firebrand James Pattinson feature in the T20 set-up while New South Wales left-arm spinner Stephen O'Keefe was also included.

Twenty20 squad: Shane Watson, David Warner, Brad Haddin, Shaun Marsh, David Hussey, Cameron White (capt), Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Steve O'Keefe, John Hastings, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, James Pattinson.

ODI squad: Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke (capt), Michael Hussey, David Hussey, Shaun Marsh, Steven Smith, John Hastings, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Xavier Doherty, James Pattinson, Doug Bollinger.

Unlike White who did bugger all at the cup, Did Ferg even get a run?

Didn't do anything to get dropped for.

White dropped from one day side, but captain of 20/20 team. Clarke captain of one day side, but not good enough for 20/20. No wonder Australian cricket is about to bottom out.

David Huessy should have been looked at as well, he is starting to fade. and Ferguson being dropped well **** seriously dont put him in the same category as the spud White.

You'd feel pretty secure if you were a batsman, I guess the positive is that Marsh could bat anywhere from 1 to 6.
Going by BL's list the following would be missing out first up:
Pattinson (seamer)
Copeland (seamer)
Beer (spinner I guess)
Marsh (batsman)

I'd be hoping Pup will be getting overs, with the exception on Johnson the seamers appear to be all of a similar mould.
Nevertheless, they've probably got it as good as they could considering the direction they're taking.
