Nathan Bassett

Postby redandblack » Fri Jun 24, 2011 10:22 pm

At the start of the season, I thought Bassett would have his work cut out keeping Norwood near the top.

He had lost several top players and I thought the 'Legs might really struggle.

Well, I was totally wrong and he's done an outstanding job.

You do wonder how much notice the Board of the AFC is taking of what Bass is doing this season, to pigheaded though to pick him up, will be interesting to see if he stays at Norwood after this season or tries his luck in the AFL system - think there would be plenty of clubs that would have him as a part of their coaching staff if he was available!

a measure is how much each player has improved and is playing to their ability

don't think too many have gone backwards under bassett put it that way

Bass will need to coach in an assistant role first, If the Crows keep Craig as senior Coach, they are wasting their time with Bass as an assistant as he's already played a lot of football under him. All he'd be doing is taking up room in the coaching box. If the Crows appoint a new senior coach, then maybe Bass would be a good fit.

He took a rabble to within 1 goal of premiership and then loses 5 regulars and the team is maybe even better than year.
As much as I would love him to stay I will be very surprised if he is at Norwood next year

Bass is a man off his word, I would be very surprised if he wasn't at Norwood for the last year.

Having said that, I believe Bass has a get out clause if he gets an opportunity no man in his right mind would refuse.

Whatever he has brought back to everyone at Norwood a belief that we have not seen in almost 20 years, for that we are eternally gratefull

Cheers,

I would be very surprised if Bassett is still at Norwood next year.
The Crows should be in talks with him at present, if they aint i'd say he'll end up at another AFL club as i have no doubt they would be sounding him out.
Shaun Rehn would be hoping he gets picked up from another AFL club as he's trying real hard through the media to win the Crows over & secure the job.

Bass has said he will honor his 3 year contract and I am sure he will not see his job done until we win a premiership.
The Crows are not smart enough to pick up Bass and he thinks out of the box which is not the Crows model.
I believe Neil Craig will not be at the Crows next year and I would favour Shaun Rehn to replace him ...maybe Simon Goodwin need a few years yet. Bickley has been mentioned too.
Opps off subject.

IMHO (zero fact to this) I reckon if Bass were offered an assistant role on it's own, that he would see out his 3 years at Norwood .. If he were offered a senior coaching role then I think he would go.

If the Crows come in and make a serious play for him, then I think he would have to accept it .. As AH said, if the wanted him to be NC's understudy for a season, then I'd be doubtful he would accept.
