Disgraceful effort.
Skills way below standard and clearly the coach is in his last season.

Not really up to the Legs next week though, if Dogs win, they go top again (edited: still top!)

Went as a neutral tonight. One thing that struck me was Sturt's error rate, playing on and getting caught when it would have been smarter to stop, slow the game down and take a kick. Happened constantly.

Norwood very efficient, and their accuracy shooting for goal from the pocket is amazing.

Agree Smithy. That effort is not acceptable and once again our old Mr Hyde Handball afflicts our game once again. Last week we didn't handball too much and when we did we did it well. This week it was an abortion. Our kicking is just as bad. The loss tonight will sap any confidence we got from the last 2 weeks.
Norwood made us look slow, disinterested and lazy, they have good foot skills, tackling and a good running link up game that can also go long and direct. Not sure about a flag but at the moment they're the only club that can challenge $entrals.

I think a lot of Sturt supporters feel the same way Smithy but don't post that on the Sturt site , a wee bit one eyed over there.

An enormous part of Sturt's game this season has been to play on at all costs with a chain of handpasses. Their kicks:handball ratio this season is almost even (1.19 kicks for every 1 handball), while the next closes averages 1.38 kicks for every 1 handball. They're at their dangerous best when this is executed right. Seems as though there's always one handball too many that costs them.

In saying that, statistically, their worst tonight was when they went against their normal game plan, lost all run and could only manage 23 handballs for the second quarter.

Q1 + Q3 + Q4:
Kicks: 108
Handballs: 122
Difference: 0.89 kicks per handball
Score: 10.3.63 to 14.6.90

Q2
Kicks: 48
Handballs: 23
Difference: 2.08 kicks per handball
Score: 1.0.6 to 7.1.43

Granted they were still outscored when their run + handball + receiving was well and truly up, but when it was down, they were thrashed.

Norwood went to the bye at three quarter time and shoulld have pressed on and inflicted some real scoreboard damage on the team placed 8th on the ladder.

Dominating performance.

Pfeiffer, Zorzi, Jezza, Webber all excellent. Shenton a nice return to the league side.

Sturt were woeful though, we've picked up some nice % against them.

Oh and excellent crowd. I said 5.5k at the game, not surprised that it was a little more.

Time to guess Normans reaction to the loss."We didn't follow the structures and our work ethic wasn't there"

What about Sturts inability to execute FFS .The selections are crazy and moves on the field are also strange and we have no game plan. Sturt probably have at least 5 players not cuurently up to league standard and a couple still manage to get games. But enough of Sturts woeful skills and off field issues .

Grteat crowd and I have never seen somany new Norwood scarfes and guernseys before ! Good luck to them and thats great that they get behind their team and Norwood are drawing some good crowds. Apart from being a traditional strong crowd club their brand of footy is good to watch which would also help their crowds. Although they have a strong defensive side to their game this year they also attack more IMO.Their skills are good , they are quick and have good talls .

They are obviously very very well coached and deserved their win , well done Legs.

As a side note and taking nothing away from Norwood but the SANFL needs to sort out the holdinng the ball rule , too many missed tonight which were blatantly holding the ball .

Too many Sturt players not prepared to work. Too often Norwood found players without an opponent within 30 metres and Sturt seemed to have a knack of kicking to 3 (or 4) to 1 contests.

Well done Legs. Time for some serious questions to be asked at Unley.

Loved Zorzi's first quarter mark running back with the flight of the ball into a contest. Set a standard for the night.

Sturt were woeful - a goal that Norwood kicked in the third quarter, rebounding from the backline, was almost an exact replica of one of the warm-up drills they do at training...too easy.

Suppose Sturt do what Glenelg did and sack Norman mid season, who do they get to replace him?

I didn't mention anyone in particular though Smithy just a genneral comment.

Some issues could be discussed more from what I have seen but for some reason many on the site don't want to discuss , I suspect it has to do with not really having an understanding ofthe game to be honest (I mean that in a polite way )

Anyway we all suspected a drop in performancedue to the amount of players from the league side we lost , I just would have liked a bit more development of skills and identification of talent.
