Will he stand by his word or was it an emotive threat?

Glenelg Football Club wrote:Massie to replace Mickan
The Glenelg Football club wishes to advise it that Mark Mickan has been released from the position of senior coach following discussions with Club officials this afternoon. The Club is pleased to advise that Kris Massie has been appointed caretaker coach for the remainder of the 2011 season.
Club President Gary Metcalf on behalf of the board wishes to publicly thank Mark (who was in the final year of his contract) for his significant contribution during his 5 ½ years as senior coach.
“Mark has played a pivotal role in turning our Club into a highly competitive outfit following the previous six years finishing outside the five, this cannot be overlooked,” said Metcalf. “The Club is extremely grateful to Mark who leaves us as our second longest serving coach,” he added.
In the wake of Mark’s departure the Club remains focussed on success in 2011.
Chief Executive Officer Rob Nelson said the Club has a very talented playing group and with nine matches still remaining sees no reason why it shouldn’t expect to challenge for this year’s finals.
“This period is not about totally re-building but rather building on a strong football program we have in place,” said Nelson. “We are very excited about the possibilities and will give Kris all the support he needs to extract the best out of this playing group for the remainder of this season,” he added.
Massie is Glenelg’s reigning U18 premiership coach and current reserves coach which sits on top of the reserves ladder. He played 131 AFL games with Carlton and Adelaide.
The Club is considering various options to fill the reserves coaching role and expects to make an announcement tomorrow.
The Club will advertise nationally to seek out the best candidate for the role of senior coach for 2012.

If Massie wants to change their playing style its going to take the rest of the year for the players to get use to it anyway after having Mickan for so long. If they give more of an effort just because Massie is coaching it says more about the playing group.
I think the AFL listed Bay players have alot to answer too. What i have seen of them they have been lazy, soft, unaccountable and generally selfish from what i have read Chad Cornes is the exception.
