I got it on DVD!
Truly one of the greatest Aussie flix of all time!
Graham (the TRUE dead) Kennedy's finest work!
...He showed his awesome acting prowess being a dyed in the wool Saint Kilda supporter
playing the role of a bottomfeeding neanderthal Collingwood subhuman lowlife!
Another shit hot, yet forgotten classic Aussie Rulz movie is the 1975 John 'Wolf Creek' Jarratt's
THE GREAT MACARTHY!
He was a player for for South Melbourne in that one!
(Watch for cameos by Lou Richards & the Late Great Jack Dyer)
GO THE GROWL!!!

After all these years, THE CLUB still cracks me up.

Sydney Theatre Company brought it back to the stage a few years ago with John Wood and Gary Sweet.

Film adaptation is much tighter than the play.

ST, being more than a bit kind with that review.

So kind that I suspect you may be Margaret or David?

John Howard is the star recruit in THE CLUB.

John Jarratt is the star recruit in THE GREAT McCARTHY.

Thank you Magpies.

I have a copy of the book The Club (for a uni project) and I got it signed by John Howard. Love the film. It shows the essence of so many organisations.

Was interesting to see at the start that it was made jointly by the South Australian Film Corporation and the New South Wales Film Corporation.

In the late 70s and early 80s the SAFC was very active in the film industry. Heavily involved in the development of films, hence so many great films of the time were filmed here - Breaker Morant and Pic Nic at Hanging Rock as examples of films that could've been filmed elsewhere but weren't.

The SAFC doesn't seem to have that crunch any more though.
