Will kick this topic off by mentioning some good news for the Cincinatti Bengals that will have Wedgie pleased no doubt.
They have signed star Quarterback Carson Palmer to a nine year contract extension that has the possibility of earning him 161 million dollars!!
Palmer has helped engineer a revival to heady days that have not been seen by the Bengals since the days of Boomer Esiason.
Have felt sorry for the Bengals a bit over the years though as two draft choices that stand out that were considered cant miss prospects, ended up missing to varying degrees in Ki-Jana Carter and Dan Wilkinson. There wasn't much dispute that these two were the best prospects in their respective drafts and much feted running back Carter ended up being a bust and while Wilkinson ended up being a solid player, he wasn't as dominant as expected.

Are they unlucky to finish 3 games clear on the bottom of their conference too?

Pittsburg will win easly champ.
Even though the Bengals were 10pts up twice they were never going to win this game losing their star QB and a star WR in the 2nd play of the day.
They've got no defence and got most of their offence wiped out then.

As always, never like to see any sportsman cop an injury, so hopefully they recover in time to have good seasons next year .. Injuries aside though I'm pretty happy with the result :)

Yes, that's well done Constance. I think the $9.50 was good value for the teams that you selected.
Interesting situation with Palmer given that I'm sure if contract negotiations had been held over 'til the end of the season, things would have been very different. Not to say that he still can't have an awesome career but he'll get the money now no matter what happens.

Crikey, there is going to be hell to pay in Indianapolis after their elimination at the hands of Pittsburgh (21-18).

Rightly or wrongly, whether you agree or disagree several sportsmen and sporting teams over the years have been labelled with the tag of "Chokers" ... Surely now the Colts and/or Manning qualify for this tag???

Can't say I disagree with that, especially considering that they were actually down 21-3 at three quarter time and only got it back with a 15 point last quarter.
Guess I'll have to leave the jersey at the bottom of the linen press for a while.

I'm just spewing the Bengals lost their quarterback and wide receiver in the 2nd play last week otherwise that would have been us heading to the AFC Championship game at Denver next week.

Great win by Carolina today, enjoyed that game. I'll probably be on the Seattle bandwagon now with a leaning towards the Panthers.

Wedgie, Good to see you on the Tigers bandwagon...

No if we could just get you to see sense regarding the Mighty Tigers in Adelaide........

(And I don't mean the STA/Adelaide Tigers either.....)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think these two Homer Simpson quotes best sum up American 'football'

'Gas break honk. Gas break honk'

and

' I never realised just how boring this game is'

New Orleans Saints finally sign highly rated running back Reggie Bush to a 6 year contract. He'll want to produce and it's because of situations like this Bush holdout that I can see the NFL pushing for a rookie contract setup similar to the NBA's.
Terrell Owens now with the Cowboys under legendary coach Bill Parcells- I can see this being a monster Owens season or a complete bloody disaster. Owens will want to pull his head in somewhat though, if he plays up this time, his credibility will be shot.
In a major surprise to me, Daunte Culpepper has been traded to the Miami Dolphins only about a year after signing one of the highest paying contracts of all time. Not sure of the details but promises to be a long season without him and the defection a year ago of Randy Moss to the Raiders, for the Vikings. A shame really as I felt that the combination of Culpepper and Moss had the chance to be one of the best quarterback/receiver combinations ever.
Ronde Barber signed a 5 year deal for megabucks with the Buccaneers.
Nothing short of a Superbowl appearance will do for the Colts this year.

I think Miami's chances of doing anything good this year have been snuffed out by Ricky Williams being banned for a year for his fourth drug offence. Strange that in the NFL the penalty for a fourth drug offence is only one year. Seems pretty soft.
