An excellent article in the paper today, with some good comments from Paul Roos on Craig's situation:

Great article IMO.
Too many people get carried away with comments and high expectations that are set and dont look at the list for what it is.... a young and inexperienced list.

Some more interesting comments from John Worsfold regarding the development of sides in the AFL:

Yes, down the track.

Goodwin may be getting some good experience but he would need to improve his communication before he got a gig.

I am not a fan of Michelangelo Rucci, but his article this morning brought up an excellent point. The Crows are in the same place the Weagles were over the previous couple of years, but now they are back in a big way.
They had faith in Woosha and his side is rocking again. Give our bloke a chance and he might get the same result when the young guns mature into experienced AFL footballers.

Michelangelo is a very smart man, he is backing Craig because he knows he's a spud and he wants us to back him.

Agree

Rucci is playing mind games. I stopped reading his dribble 3 years ago

You cannot compare the Crows to the Eagles. After 2007 the Eagles and the Crows were in the exact same position. The Eagles decided to legitimately rebuild where as the Crows decided to hold onto their dicks and try to forge another premiership with a pack of 30+ year olds. People saying we are where the Eagles were last year are also wrong, the eagles were rebuilding, the Crows as of yet have not actually begun rebuilding, even now team selection is still short sighted.

Neil Craig is a hack, he is a perennially unsuccessful senior coach who is too caught up in his own philosophies and too inflexible to be a successful coach. The pack of unqualified yes men at his back are no help either. In 7 years only 4 Senior players have been drafted while Neil Craig has been coach, the majority of his sides each year have been made up of players drafted and in a lot of cases at least partially developed before he was senior coach. He is not only a poor match day coach, he is a poor developer of young footballers.

Over the years I have heard repeatedly that he is a great developer of players and a great preparer for match day, in truth there is sweet **** all evidence that such things are true. He is an average coach who inherited a top 4 list that had been ravaged severely by injury in 2004, which unsurprisingly did well in 2005 and 2006. People acted like Craig was some kind of supercoach taking the side from out of the 8 to home and away dominance, the fact is 2004 was an aberration, the Crows performed in 05 and 06 exactly where they should have, they were hitting the peak for a tilt at a Premiership, on the back of 4 champion players.

Neil Craig underachieved, he had those players and he failed to win a prelim, since then the side has declined every year, 2009 certainly doesn't count as an improvement, a favourable injury list and soft draw. The Crows beat up on crap teams but failed against good sides, they were no where near it. After 2009 Neil Craig and the rest of the coaching staff once again misread not only the trends of the list but also the trends in the AFL and the way it is played. To expect improvement out of players well into their 30s and well past their prime was insanity.

To say the Crows are where the Eagles were last year or the year before is not a reason to keep Craig and his assistants, it is a reason to get rid of them for wasting time. Failed to win finals repeatedly, failed to correctly read the trends of the AFL repeatedly, failed to rebuild legitimately when it was clear a premiership with the current list was not possible, failed to admit they were wrong and correct their mistakes.

If he was Victorian he would have been sacked in 2008.
