Probably because you already had a side good enough for Div 5/6.

as a player who has been around these 2 div's for a while i'd say the biggest differance i noted was not so much at the top end its more so the bottom end. What i mean by that is this; you win the flag in div 7 go up the next year to div 6 your top 8 to 10 players are GENERALLY as good as the other sides top 8 to 10 but on the other end of the scale the other sides bottom 5 or 6 are alot better than your bottom 5 or 6 if that makes sence. (hence the 'your only as strong as your weakest link' tag)

the point i'm making is the depth in div 6 is alot better than div 7 i did'nt think it was but it surely is.

The juggernaut (pardon the pun) that is SHOC will smash the Div 7 comp come September time, and then will dominate Div 6. Mark it down

jugs you told us 5 weeks ago they would'nt lose a game then they lost 2 in a row!
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

Mawson Lakes 26
Angle Vale 26
SHOC 26
Mitchell Park 20
TTG 14
North Pines 14
Athelstone 12
Modbury 4
Flinders Uni 2

Top 3 in no particular order, % to seperate them.
TTG and Nth Pines to fight out for 5th spot. Nth Pines losing the points to Flinders Uni may come back to bite them.
Athelstone to be close but just miss out on the finals.

In saying this if TTG can knock off Nth Pines this weekend then I think TTG will secure 5th spot unless there are a few big upsets running into the finals.

The run home should be very exciting with 4 of the top 5 teams all playing each other in the last month before finals...Last round will be a nailbiter, will probably come down to that round of games as to who will play who in the 1st week of the major round.

My guess is that he has tipped Pines to beat Vale at home & TTG and Athelstone to beat TTG, apart form that we have picked the same.
I've tipped SHOC to not lose a game in the back 9, they play their biggest threats at home.
B82 would have a bit more inside info than me though, I'm hearing that North Pines have a few new signings.

Yeah I put down wins for Nth Pines against TTG, Flinders Uni, Modbury & Athelstone but also put down a win for them against Mitchell Park at home. They need to beat 1 or maybe 2 of the top 4 teams to make the finals. They also rely on Athelstone I think to beat TTG in there RD 13 clash. For Nth Pines to make it they need a few things to fall there way. As I said losing the points against Flinders Uni will more than likely come back to bite them on the a$$.

Funny thing about me picking them against Mitchell Park is after speaking with a few of the boys at Nth Pines they said that Mitchell Park was the better team out of the top 4 from what they saw. I think Div 7 has turned out a lot closer than many first anticipated.

I like it Morell

There could be a number of reasons why these players felt Mitchell Park were better than the others eg teams match up better on certain teams, players missing etc. Nth Pines has pushed most teams they now just need to go that step further and start beating these teams.

Heard a story that a lot of the army blokes at Angle Vale are on 'Tour of Duty' for the next 6 weeks. Understand it's a fair chunk of their side too.

Looking through their list I don't think it will have a huge affect.

That sounds about right, it's pretty tough to separate the top 3 right now. Even Mitchell Park could sneak in there after seeing them play a few weeks ago. Depth will be the key come the second half, if injuries start to mount up it could be the difference between a top 5 spot or missing out given how close it is.

Agreed double-blue, that is why I still have SHOC as being right up there despite the last couple of losses. The younger bodies and their ability to recover quicker will be telling later on in the year, plus the 150 player strong club depth. I know a few of our ageing stars are already beginning to struggle.
