I wonder if Andy D will be having a quiet word to Rucci about giving one of the AFL's major sponsors biggest rivals a whole lot of publicity.

I wonder if Andy D will be having a quiet word to Rucci about not recognising that Hungry Jack's is a corporate partner of the AFL and associated Adelaide Crows and Port Power with McDonalds?
Who is flipping the wrong burger?

The Burgers are better at Hungry Jacks, - i'll take Coopers Hill replete with the said product over the sterile concrete West end flavoured version any day!

That comes cash in hand to take our best burger flippers and gives us a new mop from time to time and thinks we should be eternally grateful. That made us move our shop to a sidestreet to make way for the big black and white burger joint because they would get more customers. That gets to pick the best ingredients and leaves us the scraps in the back of the truck. But we're a burger joint that sticks to a traditional recipe that a portion of people prefer. And we're proud of our product and customers and won't shy away from that to say that the bigger joint is better.

Sorry Demitriou, you don't get to draw the iron curtain on everyone and control the written and spoken word of everyone in the country to say you and your code are perfect. We were a vital part of the AFL starting and not falling in a massive heap in the early 90s. And as much as you want to neglect us, the SANFL clubs are doing far more for your comp than you realise. If anything the "lazy SANFL clubs" that Rucci despises so much (wouldn't have anything to do with him being a Port fan though) have enabled the AFL to not worry about SA football and concentrate on Victoria for far longer than it should have. It's time to reward the SANFL clubs for what they're done and help them continue the great work.

This is a perspective that I have never heard, and just shows how much bias and how little real thought gets put into the articles in the paper.
Perhaps thea better analogy of the rising popularity of farmers markets and the like vs Coles and Woolies might be more apt. Is there a shift in society? Are people perhaps looking for something that is more "real" and has character.

I thought Ruccis analogy was wrong and im tired of the whole Stevens letter "fiasco", but I thought overall I thought the premise of hsi article was bang on. There is plenty of infighting in SA football. It is detremental to the sport in this state. There are issues with the performance of both SA clubs which puts plenty of pressure on the state league and development. It is important that everyone in this state needs to work together to work out an outcome that is best for SA football. Healthy Adelaide + Port = more money for their football = better results at AFL level = more crowds & more money = more money for the SANFL = more money for junior development = happy SA.

But Macca, the issues of performance are wholely and solely because of the contrived nature of the draft and rewarding mediocrity and punishing emerging dynasties. Look at the relative stages of the cycle of Essendon and Carlton v Richmond and Melbourne v St Kilda and Bulldogs v Power and Brisbane. Swans have gone nowhere wince their premiership and won't be for a while either while they finish 5-10th. Geelong have been lucky enough to secure several father-son pics so they can also have their high draft picks - regardless of how those father-son pics turned out, they still would have gone early in the draft, and so Geelong didn't have to make that choice. West Coast have the right idea, fall quickly for three years when the premiership opportunity is over, and rise just as quickly. Brisbane and Port tried to hang on for too long.
