Is he Duck's lad?

Yeah he is Duck's lad, I rate Jarrod as a very good footballer & very handy in a team like this as he can play forward or back.

 fair enuf i thought there would of been better going around the SGL than him at the moment tho? Jarrod getn older and a lot slower nowdays i thought he would struggle with the pace of inter city games.

Straight talker you obviously have someone else in mind to fill Jarrod's place (thats if he does get selected ).

I find it strange how you knock the squad selection of Davies, yet make no mention of the numerous on-ballers that are picked.
Most on-ballers are the best players in the team/league and most would prefer to chase the ball than follow a man, sometimes you can't just pick the best 21 players for an association match.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

There's an age-old and untouchable factor in picking amateur rep teams. Flawed as it is selectors regularly pick the best available ruckmen, full forward and full back then fill the team with in-form on-ballers who have the stats going for them at the time. So when you stick a gun ruck rover on a half back flank he resents it and keeps heading into contests further up the ground. Then coaches go spastic when opposition forwards get easy possessions and the rot sets in.

Agree entirely. Various teams of the year use the same cop outs, making a mockery of things. How many times do you see the 6th best centreman in a comp get put into a forward pocket despite kicking 1 a dozen goals tops for the year.Pick these things based on he best players across each line I think.
7Dog do you think such soft policy is the reason why the Northern Cities teams have been abismal for years?

In terms of SGL, I believe there are 12-15 guys based around varying positions with the ability to play more than 1 position that unless they can't get a kick are the best players in the league & can play good footy in combine teams (eg: Fuller, Burford, Hobbs, Morris, Luteria, J.Warren, D.Dohnt, C.O'Connor, Bearman, Shillabeer, M.Grantham, J.Lukich, N.Collins, R.Stapleton)
The rest are picked on form, there also needs to be a mix of inside & outside players.

Northern is totally different. I have no idea who the best players are from the Northern Areas, as we have never played against them. Since they were added to our zone, we should have created a carnival with SGL, Whyalla, Northern Areas & Roxby.
Since we don't, we are under prepared for this type of carnival as we train only twice (rarely the full side trains together) & the training is a kick & catch training & is a get to know you session.
We could do everything so much better, but nothing changes. The bus ride home is always interesting to hear of how Northern will improve & the things that need to be put in place........still waiting
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Northern Cities is a joke its's not run well preparation is poor and all it is is just a weekend away from the missus for the boys to get on the piss and maybe get up to some St Kilda and Ricky Nixon activities (from what i've heard). When is the Northern zone going to take the Carnival for seriousl?? Team full of Champions doesn't make a Champion team!

yea its normally not too bad at all nothing like grand final day or anything like that. but with whyalla travelling here with 3 teams not to mention the people that from pire in the SGL side turns out to be a good day.

not only do you get to see most of the best league players running around but earlier in the day you can spot some talented youngster in the 15's and 18's

So the Duckster would have gone through 2 packets of Winnie Blues I guess? Will this get him over the line as Northern Cities coach next month?

I see their results are on Sportingpulse, as are Mortlock Shield, but no Landmark Cup which I have been nodding off waiting for! Anyhow SGL won by 2 goals approx if I recall correctly.

Yes there is a points system, but he won't have to play B's as West are hardly using any points.
