centrals really outplayed port in the opening quarter and that seemed to be enough to assist them winning.

Port were on top in the middle quarters and i was expecting them to really put some pressure on the dogs in the last quarter, but it just didnt eventuate.

Harder missing those shots in the third quarter were significant in the game. He had three shots at goal that he should have kicked (maybe the last one was a bit more difficult) and also should have had another but passed it off (which went through as a rushed behind) when he should have kicked a goal.

Oh gee... Central won again. Never expected that...

Geez this is going to be the easiest flag they've won ever! The other teams have no idea how to compete anymore. Even Port had to try when it won all it's flags...

Surely even Central fans would like some competition here? I suppose the ordinary crowds at Dogs games probably reflects that the gloss of 2000-2005ish is gone for some.

Not all, just some.

I hope everyones playing possum... as it's a race for 2nd at the moment.

Haydon looks great, Henderson is becoming for some reason a bit of a crowd non-favourite amongst the dogs fans, not sure why. Aside from a few fumbles he was pretty good I thought. Good to see a couple of Gowans out there again (second time this year I think), as well as Callinan (who looked a little rusty but will only improve). Barmby is turning into a very good league footballer, really enjoy watching the way he goes about his footy. Still plenty of players to push for selection in the weeks ahead and plenty of improvement to be had.

Umps were inconsistent all around, as expected.

In the 2nd qtr, we missed two really easy goals (a grubber kick that missed and a pass from Henderson to Callinan when he should have had a shot) that were both responded to by Port goals. 4 goal turnaround prior to half time that made the day much harder work than it needed to be. But it's always good to win ugly. Regardless of the off-field stuff, Port are certainly persistant and their supporters who do go to matches are as passionate as any.

A great day with a few laughs and a few beers, topped off with winning the meat tray at the half time raffle. Steak and beer for dinner!

Only a point and a quarter out!

Much the same as last weeks match...looked good in the 1st quarter and then dropped off for 2 quarters and then had a decent last quarter.

Crowd looked about 4K IMHO...nothing to complain about.

The match never reacted any great heights as a contest but was good to get a win.

What does everyone think of the deliberate against Callinan in the 3rd quarter on the wing??? :-?

Umps were kept busy peeling "Hand Off Our SANFL" stickers off the ball whenever it was returned from the crowd.....

I thought it was there as there were no Central players in the vicinity that he handballed it to - there is no doubt his intention was to get the ball out of bounds. However, if that was paid, there should have also been one paid a bit later when a Port player scored a 'rugby try' taking the ball out of bounds. ;)

Great to finally get to a game - only my second one this year due to 1st XVIII commitments.
Central did enough to win.. but not very inspiring today.

Cheers

Dogs just keep grinding them out.
Hender's misses for Port were offset by Obst's for Centrals.
What is Obst's problem in front of goals, consistency wise?
Hender could be a very good target for Port but he needs to make his kicks count.
Not just the misses were bad but also one which fell short and another which missed a target.
Sutherland got pumped in the ruck tody, Meiklejohn and Maric are two very good players at SANFL level, so it's probably no shame to Pumpa that he got beaten. One thing you can never question is his second efforts - which gives him a lot of credits in my eyes.
Great to see Callinan back. Sully looks like he's getting back to the pace of the game.
Barmby looks good, reminds me of Tyson Hay.
Dunne looked good too. Don't understand why Henderson is copping it - seems a handy player when available and played well tday.
I feel we do miss O'Hara and Dutschke a little, for their toughness around the packs.
Overall, a hardly scintillating win but every point counts.

You never want to take negatives away from a win but Centrals' second quarter efforts this season continue to be a problem and is the one blight in an otherwise excellent game. Once again today it was a problem, with Port scoring - albeit with the breeze - 6.1 to 2.2 to force their way right back into the match.

Image

Meanwhile for Port, an area that badly affects them is perhaps the most crucial and that's the first 10 minutes of the match. Today they were down by 19 points by the 10 minute mark. In fact over the last month (four matches), they've scored a combined total of 2.3 to 8.7 in the opening 10 minutes. Over the season they're ranked second last....

(unusual that Sturt are top, but their remaining 110 mins are pretty poor...)

Why was Summo left up forward all day?

Harder needs to do some goal kicking practice.

Maric was only average IMHO. I rate MJ higher as a ruckman.

Banner worked into the game nicely.

Is Ebert fit?

How cold was it at the game? I froze my ass off!

You're right about Mieckeljohn. Probably the best ruckman in the comp.
I'm sure someone will correct me, though.

Very glad to get away with a win especially after a loss.

Eddie Sansbury was very very very good again, absolute great bloke and role model for many people to follow.

Worse decision of the year was the David Haydon holding the ball in the second quarter, he was the only one of 4 who wanted the football.

No one gave Henderson rubbish where i stood and he was rightly names as Lairdys coaches award today, loved his comment that he was 'just glad to get a win'

Crowd was good!

Loved the Port supporters giving UKFan rubbish for helping hold the "hands of SANFL" banner.

Was good to have photos with player holding "hands of SANFL" photos

Tommy Gunne was very good again.

Port Magpies WILL push the top 5, they are a reasonable side.

Looks like another injury this time Ryan Williams

Cant believe we are currently two games clear top, we are only coasting at present.

Sorry people i cant see what Lairdy sees in Reichart.

Dunne was good too! Kyle Robert Jenner is a human dynamo, his game today was excellent, not mentioned by Roy tonight! He is guts personified. Sat between 2 Port supporters today, just got out of the shower, STILL can't get the smell from my skin! ;)
