Hewitt - coach needs boot up ar5e

As I type, Adelaide's own Lleyton Hewitt is a break up in the 5th set against a bloke called Robin Vik (Vik E Boy? ha ha) who hasn't played a 5 setter in his life. It seems to me that Lleyton only comes up with the goods when he is almost out of the tournament. How can someone as talented as Hewitt struggle to beat a guy who's bag of tricks seem to stop at the powerful down the line shot??

True, Hewitt is a fighter but he needs to actually have some juice in the tank when he eventually (that's if he gets past VEB) comes up against his nemesis Roger Federer. Federer specialises in blowing his opponents off the court (just a rumour but he looks the type ha ha) while Llittle Lleyton has to slug it out in the early rounds. No wonder Federer is 9-0 in recent clashes.

I'd like to suggest that Hewitt's coach needs a rocket, and not of the Laver variety. Hewitt is good enough to be belting the VEB's of this tourney and everytime he has to slug it out must make Roger smile big time. Another prob is that the seeds don't do Lleyton any favours..when Henman rocks up to Wimbledon he gets a cruisey draw and a ridiculously overrated seeding in order to end one of England's most embarrassing sporting droughts (now that we've lost the flamin Ashes!). Why can't we do the same for 'our' Lleyton?

I think hes more interested in his love life and kid now and the focus hasn't been about tennis.
I agree REB he needs to have a few easy games to save himself as last year when he was drained from tough matches he got a hammering in the final.

Many over the years have suggested that the "burnout" factor would one day catch up with poor Little.It appears as though the emotional duress he has been uner over the past year and a bit may be catching up.
The two real loves of his life at the time,Kim Clijsters and Andy McLeod have both left him,he has met Bec,got married and had a sproggy.Now I know most Aussies are quick to sink the boot into any one on the edge of falling from grace,but I think Little has had a bit on his plate of late and will be back near his best in a few months.He is in a situation a bit like Agassi 5-10 years ago,would have been the best of his time,but for Sampras all over Andre and Roger all over Little.

The situation between LL and Agassi may be similar but that is where the simalarities end. Agassi is one the all time champs, as was Sampras and as is Federer.

After watching LL tonight Doggies, I reckon he's about as far away from those players as Pat Rafter. Rafter, along with Hewitt have been 'our' best players since Newcombe but one or two Grand Slams does not cut it compared to the records of Borg, McEnroe, Agassi and Sampras. Federer is the current player who will match these deeds, not Hewitt who gets his serve broken as often a female player.

Only a change of coach will bring Hewitt up to that level that you believe Hewitt can achieve.

I watched the game too. What I saw was a player out of match practice and form on the way back (and he wasn't fully fit). He still shows the gritty determination to hang in there. As all the commentators are saying - he needs a wider range of tactics - mainly pressing to te net more because he is a good volleyer. Maybe the comments about the coach aren't that far from the point.
