HP, stan has been big enough to say he was wrong.

Therefore, there's no point going on about it.

Interesting reading the bottom part of Rucci's article: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/deba ... 6072795276

FINDING THE SA SOLUTION

WHAT EACH PARTY WANTS:

SANFL

* TWO AFL teams based in Adelaide.

* 22 AFL games at Adelaide Oval.

* FINAL say on any AFL games played in SA.

* MANAGEMENT profile at Adelaide Oval.

* GUARANTEED funding for - and control of - development programs.

* NO interference in SANFL structure, in particular autonomy of State league.

* NO AFL reserves teams in SANFL league series.

PORT ADELAIDE

* RESCUE package to Adelaide Oval in 2014/15.

* INDEPENDENCE of board.

* NEW stadium deal.

* RESERVES team.

ADELAIDE

* INDEPENDENCE of board.

* NEW stadium deal

* RESERVES team.

AFL

* AFL football every weekend in Adelaide.

* INDEPENDENCE of Crows and Power.

* REVIEW of SANFL competition, in particular salary cap.

BEST DEAL

SANFL releases Crows and Power licences to AFL in return for:

* ASSURANCES Crows and Power play 22 games each season at Adelaide Oval.

* AFL funding of SA football development programs.

* INDEPENDENCE of SANFL State league.

I'd like to know what exactly the AFL want to achieve from a review of the SANFL competition and why they are concerned with the SANFL salary cap?

Also, if both AFL teams want reserves in the SANFL - could we see the Power have their players with the Magpies (obvious choice) and the Crows align with South?

And absolutely should the AFL provide and guarantee funding for game development in South Australia and this should not be used as a tool of power over the SANFL.

Yes something Rucci overlooks (despite me sending him the link). In fact I may have to log in as PAFC 1870 or something, as not one of my last five comments have been posted, I'm getting a complex. I don't think he liked the Topic, "sick of Rucci". :lol:

One thing that should not be overlooked in this debate, is that the SANFL is owned and controlled by the 9 league clubs. Look at the structure. The 10 directors are representatives of the 9 clubs (Plus "community football" which is all the minor competitions) They appoint the commissioners and if you look at the current commission, most of its members have strong club affiliations. Every one of us who is an SANFL club member, VP etc, has a say in what happens. We vote for our own board members, who in turn appoint a director to the league. Demetriou can huff and puff, Rucci can write all the rubbish he wants, but it's our SANFL and our responsibility to work through our own clubs, to see that our competion remains strong and independent. I posted recently on another forum, that the AFL needs the SANFL more than we need the AFL and I stand by that statement. We don't need to roll over before the AFL and given the present makeup of the commission I don't believe we will. So long as we stand behind our own clubs and make it crystal clear to our elected representatives, that we wont stand for becoming a subsidiary of the AFL.

Exactly right.

I've been saying this for ages. The Commission members are all long-time SANFL club people.
