As hard as it is we probably have to remember that he is only 14 and probably (obviously) very immature.

Lang. Creek too strong for Mclaren - 50 points

Strath to beat Enc Bay - 35 points

Willunga to beat Myponga - 75 points

Yank to hold on vs Mt.Compass - 7 points

Think you are pretty close. Agree with your selections, given decent conditions - Victor and Strath by a few more I think, but the games at McLaren, Pongy and Compass might be close if the rain sets in.

Yank will have to play MUCH better than they did last week to beat Compass. I think based on what I seen Compass by 5 goals. Probably the weather might make it closer. The rest I agree with.

That's why tipping is hard this year with teams producing differing results week in week out. Based on what ive seen over the last 3 weeks, I'll agree with all the tips but I will go out on a limb and pick bays over strath by 4 goals

have heard the bays have a few injuries - will Massie n Mcgregor be playing or do they have SANFL commitments - strath have been in some poor form as of late - i think mclaren had a real chance to upset them, however straths ability to lift in close situations is outstanding.

Glenelg playing Sat so i'm guessing not. Game of the week this week would have to be Yank - Compass. Will be a great game, home ground advantage might be the difference.

On a personal note victor is trying to get a win at home. Unusual start to the year, they've won every away game and lost every home game.

Not too bad live_for_footy! I did say Victor and Strath by a few more though ;) With some outs, no Massie/McGregor and a 10 goal loss last week I thought Strath would win comfortably but sure didnt see that coming - biggest margin of the year by some way.

Yank too good for Compass by the looks after being billed as match of the round.

So with one match to go till the half-way mark, we have the same teams in the top 5 as last year. Couple of big games next week with Yank taking on Creeks and Victor off to Willunga so second to fifth could shuffle around but Strath should sit atop the table.

Who's in the association team for this week? Who are we playing against? Where is it being held?

Final training is this Thursday. Game is at Noarlunga and is a night match. No time on the program. Playing the SFL. Juniors is a combined side from the GSFL and the Hills or River Muray I think.

I might be opening a can of worms here on the Association debate but it would appear that it has lost a bit of credibility with the current format.
IMO the Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) are onto a winner. Chatting to a few mates here in Victoria about the new format we have here and they love it. Not sure if something like this could happen in SA??

The format for the WorkSafe Country Championships changed in 2010 whereby each Major League was ranked based upon previous performances in WorkSafe Country Championships and all District Leagues were invited to be ranked and to participate.
The new format enables leagues to compete in one-off matches where winning leagues are promoted up the rankings and defeated teams demoted.

The format allows for 10 ‘blockbuster matches’ between evenly ranked leagues across the state and scheduled on one day.

Next weekend will be our own Super Saturday of Country Footy across the WorkSafe VCFL.

2011 WORKSAFE COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURE

(1v2) Goulburn Valley FL v Ballarat FL Shepparton
(3v4) Ovens & Murray FL v Mornington Peninsula Nepean FL Frankston
(5v6) Geelong FL v Bendigo FL Geelong
(7v8) Hampden FNL v Murray FL Shepparton
(9v10) Gippsland League v Central Murray FL Morwell
(11v12) Bellarine FL v Sunraysia FL Donald
(13v14) Wimmera FL v Yarra Valley FL Woori Yallock
(15v16) Western Border FL v Geelong & DFL Mt. Gambier
(17v18) North Central FL v Mallee FL Donald
(19V20) Horsham FL v Heathcote DFL Horsham

I agree 'A Mum'. Thankyou. Its a 14 year old kid!!! He has obvious problems and needs support. He's an immature kid who needs help. Footy clubs and leagues have a responsibility also to support kids at a junior level, I'm pretty sure its becoming mandatory. Rather than hanging this kid out to dry and everyone taking pot shots at him a little support might actually make him realise that this behaviour is not acceptable. I dont condone what he has done, but I am also worried about the fact that he is so young, has been a repeat reported player, 4 times I believe, and there hasn't been anything put into place from the club or the league to support this kid in finding ways to manage his anger. Poor effort, ban him for 5 years, make him someone elses problem, poor effort.

Sounds good in theory but you're kidding yourself if you think footy clubs have the resources and knowledge required to give kids like this the help they need. I would argue that most schools don't. Surely the footy clubs/leagues primary duty of care is to protect the safety of its umpires and opposition players.

You are kidding BF. I bet you think murderers deserve a second chance and that domestic violence is ok because its in house! The kid knows what is right and what is wrong, he is 14 not 8. Sorry to disappoint you, the grass is greener nowhere else and I think the penalty is sufficient if not slightly leniant!
