Going!...Going!...GONE?!...

Postby The Apostle » Sun Jun 05, 2011 10:12 am

With Glenelg looking like mid-table rabble (drawing with South) and Sturt slugging it out for the wooden spoon (with North)...how much longer before we see some movement down Brighton Road and Oxford Tce???

Discuss!

Ouch ! Not sure if some of the Glenelg fans will wannt to hear that . Strong rumour going around about this and who will coach next year , the victory over Sturt helped him for sure .

As for Sturt, losing 12 players severley hurt and we were always going to struggle but Norman is under pressure but will survive the year .I can't see him being there next year though .

I said last year, when everyone was calling for Mickan's head, that he deserved 1 more year. Unfortunately for Glemelg, they seem to be going backward at a rapid rate of knots. there's still a long way to go, he'll see the year out. As for Norman, certain rules were implemented during the summer, is this correct?, which upset or seemed to disenchant a lot of the players, resulting in a rather large exodus. If this is the reason for Sturt's demise, then the person that implemented those rules needs his/her/its arse kicked big time & shown the door.

You'd think it was unlikely either would still assume their current position next season.

However, I still wouldn't write any team off for this season .. North could still challenge for the finals after being talked up as a wooden spooner only a fortnight ago.

Footy isnt played on paper I know, but the Bays have too good a list not to play a vital role in September, which I still believe they will, maybe this season they will actually peak at the right time?

They kept Mickan (though godden was preferred), as they didn't want to pay out $100,000. It was either Mickan or the lights.

Unless Glenelg get going over the course of the rest of the year or make a good run in the finals, they surely have to say they've missed the boat with this group and need to change something. Either bring in a new coaching staff (usually the easier option) or look at bringing in new players.

Yeh, doesn't make much sense timeline wise. Something I heard from someone "close" to things at the bay ( no not a one legged sailor). I thought it was pretty much common knowledge. If you guys hadn't heard it, I'm a bit surprised. Not a big deal anyway, I can understand them not wanting to pay him out. Anyway not too fussed, I'd like to see him coach for another five years. My understanding is godden was well liked and respected by the players.

P.s i' not writing the bays off yet, i ihad them top three at the start of the year.

Regardless of results for both teams for the remainder of the year, the general consensus down Brighton Road way is that Kris Massie is the next League coach of the Bays.

Who do Double Blues supporters think will be their coach when Luke Norman is no longer in charge, whenever that may be?

I think you have heard the rumour I have .It's about Glenelg and not Sturt .

Who knows who will coach Sturt if Norman doesn't next year.

Glenelg are playing a lot of kids and trying players in unfamiliar roles, which I'm happy about as our minor round success over the previous three years hasn't held up when it counts. Granted we make the finals I think we might go alright ;) Mind you I thought we would go alright the last two years.

Massie will definetly be coaching next year, where? I'm not sure. :)
