Great win by North. Think there were some very happy North supporters after the game.

Are North of the bottom?

No....but I've heard that a lot of their supporters are! :D ;)

North are off the bottom, on percentage. You've always hated us haven't you ;)

I thought the Eagles had it in the bag at 3/4 time. Rowntree missed a sitter just before 3/4 time, but even so, 21 points looked to be enough as besides the first 10 minutes of the 2nd quarter, Eagles looked to have North at arms length despite not really getting out of 2nd gear.

Similar to the last quarter last week against Glenelg, the Eagles were totally outplayed. Unfortunately, unlike last week, the Eagles hadn't built enough of a lead for this not to be a problem.

North were very good in that last quarter. First to the ball, they wanted it more. Allan was sensational. His workrate to get himself into situations where he can get the ball is so far ahead of any of our players. Gallman played an extremely tight tag on Lewis, causing him to be ineffective.

Grocke and Powell were our best. The Eagles missed a number of opportunities, but the same could be said of North. Very disappointing to lose this one, but well done to North, they keep their season alive.

I didn't think we had it in the bag at 3/4 time but it should have been. All day I thought our use in the forward line and kicking for goal was disappointing with Treeby and Grocke being the biggest culprits.

It seems that in recent years we seem to cough up golden opportunities to setup our season, like we did against North at Prospect in round 22 last year which would have put us in 3rd spot going into the last round. Today with Norwood v Central we had the opportunity to either get even on wins with Central or 2 games clear of Norwood depending on the result - allowing us to consolidate a top 3 position and possibly get a look in at top spot. Now Norwood are ahead of us on percentage and we are effectively in 4th with West one win behind but having played one less game and a better percentage.

And yes, Jimmy Allan was more than serviceable...

North were too good.
Eagles played about 1 1/2 quarters of footy - very disappointing :(

Well done North

Listened to the last quarter whilst driving to Noarlunga ... great call, although they forgot to cross to The Parade in all the excitement.

North have been threatening to do this all season, and the Eagles maybe come back to Earth a tad.

Not a lot of easy games this season.

Francou's moves in the last quarter seemed to change the game. Grocke had killed Mason, Alleway had hardly had a touch and Ryswyk had been very poor. Alleway blanketed Grocke and played with great strength at Centre Half Back, Ryswyk was too quick for the Eagles defence and when Mason went into the ruck half way through the last quarter he was sensational. He never missed a tap in the last 15 minutes (Parry was probably exhausted after having a monumental battle with Ackland). Mason's bullocking work and dash out of the centre in that last 15 minutes was very, very important.
Funnily enough the week before we lost to Central yet hardly had a bad player, today we had a number of players down on form, but we managed to get the points. I still think that we are only a couple of key defenders from being a good side.

yes, that's correct, amazing how some spelling can change the whole context of a message, especially in this instance!

losing to the bottom two sides could cost eagles a top three spot especially losing one at home will hurt

Sounds like a pretty gutsy win for the Roosters, one that can really be used as a foundation to kick-start their season.

It's a bit frustrating only two out of two of the posts by eagles supporters, have praised Norths performance (Tsg). ;)

Interesting to read Godden's comments about the Eagles getting ahead of ourselves. Shows a distinct lack of respect for North especially as they haven't been in wooden-spoon style form, which is disappointing. To lose a game from this situation cancels out the gain from the West game. However, hopefully it provides a bit of a jolt for the club.
I'm still not overly convinced we will make the finals, let alone make the top three. North will be more dangerous with a bit of confidence, and more experience will allow South to stay in games longer and lead to more wins.

North are a lot better than where they are on the premiership table.
They will be a headache for more than the Eagles for the rest of the season.
Look out, remember Norwood came from the clouds last year.
Eagles only have themselves to blame for that loss. If you cannot kick goals from 20 metres straight in front and running into open goals on at least 3 occasions you don't deserve to win. Very disappointing

V Good last 1/4 from north and rammed home a message to the Eags that as soon as they become complacent or think they have a game won, they will get run over. Bad kicking = bad football and 3 gettable goals at the end of the 3rd quarter and early in the last cost us dearly. I believe we didn't give north the respect they deserved and as a result, we have lost some respect.

I disagree with some of your post. I think the Eagles did show North respect and you could see from the outset with the "argy bargy" their was tension so there has to respect from both camps plus the fact the Eagles did their homework on Alleway and never gave him any space for 3/4's also showed respect. North certainly did respect the Eagles with Gallman niggling and tagging Lewis out of the game however with the Eagles it is running players like Treeby and Jarrad that seem to always dominate. Powell was very very good as was Grocke as usual against his former club.

You might argue the Eagles missed some "gimme" goals but so did North - 4 set shots in the first plus a Gill "classic" in the second didn't help us either.

Regardless of the result (easy saying that when you win!) we are playing a much better style of football under Francou but we have to not rest on this win and build on it. What worries me is that we may not see the likes of D. Armstrong, K. Thompson, Teasdale and Clisby past this year.
