Draws in footy

Postby beeroclock » Sat Jun 04, 2011 7:33 pm

Watched Ingle Farm and Cent United play out a cracking game of footy today for a draw. Would love to see 5 minutes each way for a potential result. If at the end of the 2 extra quarters it is still locked away then so be it, let it be. Any thoughts.

draws are fantastic. if after 80 mins of footy plus all the time on that scores are level, so be it. last night the NRL has had wayne bennett come out and say extra time is a waste of time. leave it as is.

I love the draw - the emotion you feel after a draw is undescribable, its a strange feeling, and i don't think is replicated anywhere else in life.

I hope the AFL never change its policy on drawn games, and i certainly hope it doesnt change at a lower level.

Leave draws as is, Grand Finals should be extra time I reckon, such an intense, anxious build up that should only be experienced once a year even at amateur level.

Having been involved in a drawn A grade grand final whilst at Gepps Cross, i would much rather see extra time. All preparation goes into that 1 day (last training night ,organising gf night etc etc) then everything is stuffed up knowing everything is put back a week with a replay. You go to grand final day thinking win or lose the season is over, only to try and get the players up again for another GF. Minor round draws fair enough split the points. just my opinion

For me Id say a draw unless its a finals game. Then it should just be a game of attrition

The attrition part is the main reason id like to see a result. I dont mind the way it is at the moment but would like to see the teams slug it out for a result and smash in for another 10 mins. Maybe im a sadist.
