Fans Unite!!!

Postby LPH » Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:18 am

I believe it is time to put petty rivalries to one side & UNITE in a common cause...
The control of Australian Rules Football in SA is at stake.

Calling ALL SA Footy Fans - regardless of Team supported, including Power & Crows supporters.
The time has come to make a STAND AGAINST the AFL's attempt to control football, Australia wide. Football in this state (& WA) is under serious threat, make no mistake.

The AFL doesn't care for the integrity of either the WAFL or the SANFL IMHO.

I have lost all confidence in those in charge of the SANFL to stand up to Andrew Dimitreou & their AFL Overbosses.

If you love South Australian Football, it's history & it's competition - then I earge you to attend next Saturday Night's Foxtel Cup Game & Rally behind the cause to SAVE the integrity of OUR BRAND.

Wear Black - for mourning
Make a Sign to hold or hang - please keep it appropriate (as inappropriate material provides our opponents with easy ammunition in terms of 'loutish fringe element' not to be taken seriously).
Ring Talk Back Radio - and voice your concerns
Post Online

Let's take control of this issue, before it is too late!
Over the coming weeks, I intend drafting a letter to Senator Nick X to express my concern as well as the SANFL Commission & State Governement.

United, we CAN make change - imagine the message to both the SANFL & AFL if we got 10K+ next week & Media Coverage.

I will be making my own small protest today @ Woodville.
I intend getting a Facebook Group up too.

http://www.facebook.com/#!/home.php?sk= ... 10828&ap=1

I hope all you guys can join me in my fight!
Let's have a say in the future control & direction of Footy in this State.

If you wear black to the Port v North game, won't you just look like you are barracking for Port?

Yeah Black is probably not the best idea.

Can imagine the Foxtel Cup commentators now,

"and there is a large contingent of port supporters back in black in the northern pocket."

National Media Exposure on the carrier the AFL just made a $1.25 Billion deal with, that's why.

Talkback Radio is one point that people that are passionate SANFL supporters could do much more with if they / we got motivated.

What would be good would be to make specific time and the lot of us all jam the AA switchboard and make it so this subject is all that gets discussed on the show for that night.

Like the guy who said there should be more SANFL on the weekday show and all skelotor would say is there is a whole show dedicated to the SANFL each week, how much more u want...

The last couple of weeks the afternoon show has lost the plot.. especially with the anti Port line they are taking, especially when C. Cornes doesnt get picked

Look, we all have our different perspectives on the state of the SANFL and the future and the different ways we can deal with it, fight it and make public statements and awareness.
LEH, I'm with you, there's things that I'll choose not to do because for me I don't think that it would be productive, there's things that I think are productive that others won't agree with....it's not the point. THE POINT is that we all do what we think is right and what we can to fight for the SANFL future proactively. Some will choose the Foxtel Cup, good opportunity, some will be for a one off march, some will go down national exposure during an AFL game. The important thing for me is that it's not a one off, but that it's unrelenting and covers all areas. This has to be sustained and not fizzle out after one month.

A small start could be t-shirts with a simple slogan on it. Something like HANDS OFF THE SANFL DEMETRIOU or along those lines. If a handful of supporters from each club wear these to games it will get noticed by other supporters. That gets the message out to those that we need to unite.

A couple of these t-shirts could also be sent to Cornesy and Rowey with a letter from all the united SANFL fans. Cornesy and Rowey have both been very vocal this week about making sure the SANFL does not suffer because of the Port bail out. We need to use this to our advantage.

They would definitely give airtime to people supporting their views.
