And the smart thing to do, dont need to cater or clean the whole top section which equals a better stadium deal. ive been saying for years Port should not open the Northern stand unless there is rain forecast. Why cover the seats in the outer when it saves no $$ ?

More dumb decisions by the Power management.

Ive heard Footy in Tassie are looking at Ports stuggle very very closely, what happens if this next rescue package aint successful?

They should offer to buy the license from the SANFL and the SANFL should sell without batting and eyelid. Heck national sports teams move around the US so why can't they here. :?

Legally, I don't think the owner of the license can on-sell it without AFL ratification .. Which is never going to happen.

The AFL's TV rights deal demands that there is 2 clubs in SA, so Port would need to be a massive drain to them over a long, long, LONG period of time before the AFL would even consider doing anything with their license.

Simply put, it just aint going to happen.

Let's get one thing straight shall we? This isn't the US, as much as the AFL would like us to be. The US have absolutely no respect for $$$, they throw it around like popcorn in professional sport.

Australia pretends there's a bottomless pit of cash when it comes to Aussie Rules, but there simply is not. The players keep asking more, administrators, coaches, medical staff, etc, it's all costing clubs a King's ransome to put a team on the park each weekend. Any club who is struggling in 2011 will sure as hell not be operating 5 years from now.

The AFL keeps conning the public by presenting optimistic predictions for the game's future, but the truth is the game is coming apart at the seams. There is a limit to the amount of money this game can generate in Australia, and they're close to that point now. This is why greedy bastards like Demetriou keep adding franchises and talks of selling the game overseas.

I've been hoping for the football world to wake up one day, realise they're destroying what was a great game, and restore some sanity to the whole thing, but it's out of control.

SANFL sell the licence to Port Adelaide? And what are Port going to use to buy it with, monopoly money?

Far out, I think I'm having a re-lapse! I agree with you! We aren't a huge country, where everyone can afford to get paid a fortune, it's a pity we can't wind things back a bit, give everyone a reality check before everything implodes on itself. Things were at their best when blokes worked during the day & that's where the majority of their income came from, not a short-lived & often dangerous career, such as footy.
