Player Managers/Agents

Postby FootyWiz81 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 3:45 pm

The men that control most of where the players go to play etc.

I want to hear a bit more on this as I think it's an area that is going to boom with free agent coming in soon

What qualifications do you need and how do you get them?

Money they make?

Anything else interesting would be great

It would help being a past player as it's all about contacts & networking.

Move to Melbourne would be a good start.

What qualifications do you need and how do you get them? The AFLPA run a course from memory. You need to be licensed / accredited..

Money they make? Usually about 3-4% of the players salary. ie - Gary Ablett on $1.5M = Liam Pickering $45000. Then I believe it is around 25% or more of non-club payments. ie Gary Ablett with Rexona or someone for $1M per year. Liam Pickering up $250,000
Anything else interesting would be great

Go to AFLPA website and see how many are registered agents..... there are thousands of them.

Best chance is to get a job with one of the bigger companies and start at the bottom. Must have pretty good knowledge of contract law and obviously excellent networking skills.
