Rexy's ties with Norwood and their subsequent interest means the opportunity exists. However, Liam is also a talented basketballer and has a short window to break into the American scene and I believe the young lad is very keen to focus on that endeavour for the time being.

If that is the case, why on earth would he put that in possible jeopardy just to have a game of footy? Bad injury = no future in basketball, hard to fathom that out!

Because he loves playing footy...not hard to fathom.

CUFC back on track this week with a win against adelaide uni , should of won by more in the end but let uni double there score in the last quarter . we must play 4 quarters of football this week against ingle farm as they have really been challenging teams in the top half and by some of there results look to be getting better as the season progresses . would like to say top effort by nathan fenwick this week went down back and really played a solid game , also can play just as good up forward . Also to James Bain 16 years old and has really been running a muck in the B GRADE week in week out , got his chance this week in the A GRADE and showed he really has a future there well done son ;)
pain is temporary .. pride is forever

Henley unlucky not to win on the weekend from what I have heard. They have a reasonably strong team atm and have been pretty consistent the last few weeks. Have lost a few close ones they should/could have won (against Houghton/BOS/TOS), had they won those games would be sitting with or above Houghton and Ingle Farm. I feel as though a win against Uni this week would set them up for a good second half of the season.

What are other people's thoughts? Do you think they'll stay at the bottom of the ladder?

hahaha think theyd be doing alright if they had a full-forward with 10 shots on goal per week :)

I'm a bit biased but from what I've seen in the last 3-4 weeks they are playing better than any C grade team I've seen at Henley in the last 15 years and should win at least 4-5 of their last 10 games - maybe more. Div 6 is a solid comp now, far better than D7 and the boys have been matching it with some pretty good sides.

If they can keep the same group of players togther for the rest of the year they should finish well clear of relegation and have a fair influence on the final 5.

Ruckman for much of last year was Ev Bennetts I reckon - has played the last 2 games in D1.

Last year Henley stayed up because Inlge Farm and Mitchell Park were both easy beats. Not a lot of easy wins in Div 6 this year. So, if Henley were to stay up who do you think will replace them in the botom two

Very good question.

Div 6 is a very even comp apart from Kenilworth who are the clear standouts but can still be beaten as demonstrated by Glenunga. Any team on their day can win and there are no more easy beats this season. It's hard to say who would finish bottom if Henley didn't. Most teams in the bottom half are pretty well matched and even they are knocking off or pushing the top 5 teams on a weekly basis. I think possibly Col Light could be in trouble. I suppose it all depends on how many players from uni and henley are needed in higher grades in the second half of the season.

Very good point. This is traditionally the time of year where it starts getting tough for C grades as injuries take their toll up then grades in the colder weather and it starts getting harder to get numbers on the track. Uni will have to deal with a loss of players due to exams and holidays over the next month or so as well. Will be interesting to see how the bottom half of the ladder looks in another month's time.

tosser: KFC and GFC are both the teams to beat..one isnt better than the other..from what i have seen it will depend on injuries at the wrong times between those two..

CLG are in the zone as you say..but i think the bottom 6 are all around each other..without cotter we would have beaten you guys 2 weeks ago and we have just as many important injuries as anyone..we pushed GFC to a 3 goal loss but have had some real bad results in between..its certainly not boring in this division..fair to say teams that are not basket cases will be relegated this year..much like div 5 last year..who it will be is in the crystal ball :)

You can add Central United to that too imo Zed. CU are traditionally slow starters and were jumped by a strong Trinity side at Trinity in Round 1. The Henley loss was an aberation, but nevertheless did happen.

When these 3 have met eachother, the home team has won on each occasion.

KFC are doing well without a recognised ruckman - probably their only weakness, although GFC and CU certainly don't possess the best ruckmen in the comp so it evens itself out when they play each other.

Is it really true that Blackfriars and Glenunga have never played each other before? I find it hard to believe that they haven't crossed paths at some stage.

In 2006, Blackfriars OS entered the SAAFL in Division 7. Glenunga were in Division 5 that year.

In 2007, Blackfriars OS won the Division 6 Premiership. That same year Glenunga finished in the bottom two of Division 5. They swapped Divisions for the 2008 season.

Since then Glenunga has been in Division 6 and 7. Blackfriars OS had been in Division 5 until this year. They officially meet for the first time on Saturday.

They may have played each other in a trial game, unsure about that one though.

Not even in a trial have BOS and Glenunga played.

Maybe St Dominics played Glenunga between 1962 and 1986 (or thereabouts) when they existed. They were the unofficial BOS back then.

Looking forward to this Saturday's game.
