What's your ringtone???

Anything!

Postby Wedgie » Tue Mar 06, 2007 8:54 pm

My ringtone for last year was a Rooster crowing but my son insisted I put Christian Cage's entrance music in TNA on this year.
My message tone used to be a "DOH!" which was good, short and sweet and always a giggle.
My son's got to that one too and now its Yoda saying "AAAAAHHHHH, A message from the dark side there is!"

I just use the least noxious of the polyphonics that came with it, but I am considering downloading something that stands out more when I am in a crowded situation as all the pop tunes sound much the same to me. I may go for the opening bars of Beethoven's 5th or Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King".

'The sounds of silence' by Simon and Garfunkel.

A more overrated invention you will not find than the Mobile Phone. If your boss gives you one he owns your sorry a55. You can't escape from people you don't want to talk to. They are annoying ****. They disrupt work, life, shagging. Complete waste of space.

In Fight Club there is a line about people trying to sell us shit we don't need...this is exhibit A. Mobile phones were a wank in the 80's and nothing's changed. Crazy frog can smooch my fuzzy white a55 cheek...pucker up.

regards,

I tend to agree. I have a mobile phone which is off unless I want to use it, and I don't give out the number. I have a cheap plan at 39c per minute by the second, with a minimum spend of $20 per year. [iSim - by Singtel, runs on Optus network.]

Must admit I never thought much of Christian on WWE but its amazing what a decent company can do for a personality, I think he's awesome as far as talent goes now.

I tried to avoid owning a mobile phone for years. I even used to work in communications research, and was reasonably familiar with the IS-95 standard for CDMA, and still managed to avoid actually owning one of the suckers.

Then a (now former) boss gave me one*.

On returning home, I shoved it under the bed, still in the box. The boss was paying for the contract, but he couldn't force me to use the damn thing. Under the bed it stayed for some weeks.

After some time I had to travel to Canberra for a week (on personal affairs, not on work). I remembered that the mobile phone plan offered free calls to anywhere in Australia outside of business hours. So I took it with me, purely so I could phone home at nights.

... and I've never looked back.

As much as I hate the things, I do have to admit that they afford great utility to one's life. The benefit gained by carrying one greatly offsets the nuisance factor. Unwanted calls can be dismissed simply by pressing a button. I do not carry on conversations in places which would annoy other people (i.e. on the train) if I can help it. So with self discipline, one can escape the disruption.
