It's got me how the Eagles are so high up on the ladder with all their injuries and average game plan...they should be mid table IMHO...they just seem to get the job done with little fanfare.

Sorry for the late post guys was ill friday night saturday morning early .Still made it to the game well almost watched all of the three grades .Not sure if the first two made me feel worse lmao.
Anyway expected a much better effort from glenleg sadly they didnt really put up a fight in the first half only when the game was over did they show up.
I'm not going to bag chad cornes from my vandatge point he was down in the first half and improved in the second half .But was or is he carrying an injury .Pretty sure my lad and I watched him go through a fitness test at halftime .Asked a team leader at work who is a bays fan also at the game .but he didnt see it to busy drowning his sorrow in beer ;)

This eagles POV after his game in our seconds team I'd take Cain over Chad .But he got a nice 40 possessions that game ;)

Little fan fare etc reminds me of another SANFL team that has three colours on its jumper .that one keeps winning flags ;)

Good win by the Eagles ... did what they had to do to.

The final margin was flatering after some junk time goals in the last quarter after the game was dead.

The Bays are playing shite but are still well in the hunt if they can get their act together, which needs to be soon.

LOL, knock yourselves out planning Rubber's demise ... he will be the coach until at least the end of his contract.

Just finished watching the iQ replay of this game on Fox.

The Eagles were very good, despite being undermanned through injury, while yet again, the Bays some good footy in patches.

Good to see Dedja on the telly in the background when Grocke kicked that goal from Snouts Pocket. The look on your face mate said it all !!!

Craig Parry once again set up the win in the first half for the Eags. His high leaping and deft tap work were a treat to watch. Bernie Vince even quoted that it was a treat roving to his ruck work. Also the fittest he's ever been (quote Godden). Must be all that supposed night clubbing he does!!

Excellent performance by the Eagles when it mattered. Vince was a Godsend who they won't have too often, but Goldsworthy's coming on in leaps and bounds, while Parry in the form of his life, is the premier ruckman in the competition.

Interesting to see so many comments about Chad Cornes (who played well IMO), but scant mention of the other Power/Glenelg player whose career seems to be in just as much jeopardy. To me, Steven Salopek played listlessly as if he's not really sure that playing footy is what he really wants to do (or perhaps that Adelaide is where he wants to be). I know he got 24 touches, but he seemed so ineffectual.

Agree with the comments about Sal ... I was fairly surprised to see that he had so many touches when the stats came out.

Watching number 17 dominate in the first half in this game reminded me of a guy that wore the same number for WT a long time ago
Bernie Vince had an amazing first half, and was the main reason why WWT were miles in front in this game

FIRST 3 QUARTERS
WT skills were impeccable for the first 3 quarters
IF they play like this for most of the year they will be a Premiership contender
But WT turned over the ball too often in the last qtr
GL on the other hand were playing like a bakery, turnovers galore

LAST QTR
WWT got 52 points up
GL then rallied and were all over the Eagles
WWT made several errors by foot
Cornes was a target and gave off a couple of goals
Mcmahon was devastating with his run and immaculate kicking
WT hung on by 23 points, and were fortunate to have a big enough lead to win

UMPIRES
Definitely assisted WT

SUMMARY
Given the Vince factor, and the umpiring, and the EG above average skill level, GL may have been unlucky not to have got closer

LEWIS
Ive had the privilliage of knowing Punk Rooster for a long time
The Punk was once a long haired lout
If the Punk tied his hair back when he wuz younger, I reckons he would be a lewis lookalike !

QUESTION
HENDER
What is his background in footy ?
And is he related to a Hender that played for PA about 70-80 years ago ?

Basic info & Photo here for those interested:
http://www.glenelgfc.com.au/home/players/lewis-hender

Originally from Keith in our Sth East zone.
Strongly built lad, and has been from a young age. Really strong mark, stands up for himself and his team mates.
2011 Pre-season saw him focus on endurance and fitness, and his improvement in these areas is obvious to people who have seen him over the past couple of years.

2011 - Played U18s Rnd 1, Reserves until League debut against Sturt last week.
Is in State 18s squad again this year, and still under the eyes of State selectors.

2010 Played in State U18s match V West Aust where we won by 65pts last year and showed his talent with 4 goals in the first half. Lewie kicked 4 against Tasmania as well.
Played in our 18s Premiership team, and played well in the finals.
Kicked 42 goals from 13 games in the 18s last season, and gave off a few as well.

As far as I'm aware, no relation to a past Port player - but could be wrong ??

This should be in the shits thread.

The Eagles had the same amount of blokes on the field as Glenelg. How can they be undermanned when the body count is the same ?

Central were undermanned and flogged us.
