Went and watched Modbury and Mawson Lakes game today with a few mates. We all left with the same thoughts. If Modbury atnt stacking there D grade I don't no what there doing. There is no way there C grade is a breeding ground for higher teams as there was a lot it overweight and older guys playing where their D grade were a lot better and harder. I'm not going to start on Modburys umpire or goal umpire who called 2goals right in front of us goals which were clearly points. Mawsons A grade looked very good with good ball movement.
In the end we were glad to leave as some locals do not make it a nice place to go watch a natural game of footy.

Let's not stereotype the whole of SHOC side for the words of one goose on the forum. They are a strong club but at the end of the day there are forty odd footballers ahead of them so they aren't the bunch of superstars he is making them out to be. Just cause it's div 7 football doesn't mean there arent some bloody good footballers running around. No side is unbeatable.

Shoc started better and had the run of the play for the first quarter, thanks partly to my terrible accuracy in front of goal but they wasted some chances to put scoreboard pressure on as well. We kicked a couple late and went into the first break even. The second quarter was mostly ours with Nat running amok. Start of the third and we kicked the first two to get out to a 4-5 goal break but they answered strongly and got to within a kick. We kicked the last one of the quarter to take a small lead into the final change. The final quarter was all Mitchell Park and we ran over the top of them.

Lots of people playered their best game for the year for us, I thought Ortmann was critical and May was exceptional as well. Luke contested well all day and was happy to share the load with his brother.

For Shoc Carroll was dangerous all day and has exceptional hands, but I thought Jezza held him as well as anyone could. Their half back line was as hard working and running as I have played against.

I felt their main weaknesses was perhaps a bit of strength around the ball, and some height down back. Very, very quick side so it was important to maintain the pressure, even if it was as much mental as physical.

The Shoc lads were a great bunch of young blokes. Didnt have the cockiness of some other younger sides we've played over the years

Was a bit if a worry at Modbury on Saturday. The B grade game had more punches than goals kicked. The A grade umpires were abused all day by the locals which included threats, while the home side nearly did a 'Walk off' blaming the umps for a very one sided score board at 3/4 time. Also got whispers that their D graders refuse to play C grade now leaving Scott Hewett with nothing to work with. I was under the impressiont Hewett was doing a good job there with the Div 7 sides, but he clearly needs help from Matt 'Buckets' Jolly and his old man to fix things up for their lower grades.

modbury and gepps cross are the only clubs where i've been abused at after games (in the last 5 years) while trying to get a drink in their clubrooms.
the gepps cross c grade coach at least apologised for the drunk supporter who did it.

We were standing just between the coaches box on Saturday and i could hear some Modbury B grade players giving it to a Mawson lakes player as he was walking into the room. Not sure what is was about but thought the Modbury boys were going over the top a bit as it was only a home and away game! Karma anyone?

There was a ute and another car that were leaving half way thru the last quarter and they stopped behind the far goals and were yelling abuse from there cars at the ump and spinning there wheels.

We really couldn't understand what they were trying to achieve, also trying to walk off at 3/4 time was a bit of a laugh as well. Local footy you have to love it!

Another good win by you blokes Anderson. Was the oval that bad? I see Mount didn't play for TTG though.

Hey Anderson I think there is a chance Nathan Bruce-Gordon could pick up Jarrod Gordon next time we play each other. Hahaha

Does anyone know y they looked at walking off? I thought the umpiring was a fair reflection on the game. Mawson lakes were first to the ball and moved it a lot better.

WOW what a load of crap! Let me clarify some things here:

At no stage were our C grade going to walk off. Infact the umpires were going to walk off.

The supporters were told to calm down at 3/4 time by the Football Club President and Sporting Club VP and they did.

The ute that spun its wheels was not assiociated with MFC.

In saying this, abusing an umpire is not acceptable however by all reports neither was their performance  .

Thanks for clearing it up mate. can you let me know y the umps considered walking off then? Was it from the constant barrage of abuse they received?

Did you think you were getting the wrong end of the stick or were Mawson lakes a better team?

They obviously thought we were getting the wrong end of the stick if they were yelling out! No doubt ML's A grade side will be a better side than our C Grade  .

In my opinion and those around me, your D grade team would beat your C grade team. is it also true that some blokes refuse to play C grade because of the coach?
