I think this was the last State of Origin game I went to.

It was a great game, but noticeable watching the last 15 minutes of the quarter how good Nigel Smart and Andrew McKay were. Platten and Kernahan seemed to have lost their edge by this point in their careers.

Yes, Alan Jeans once said no matter what you think about Brereton you should never question his courage because he could dish it out, but when it came his turn to take it, he never took a backward step. This was so true, and it was no coincidence that he played in such a successful era at Hawthorn. A brilliant player in an era when aggression wasn't a dirty word.

Yep I agree too, Dermie was a true hardman of footy ... Dished plenty out, but can't remember him ever squealing when it came back to him.

Ironically as a youngster he was a player I loved to hate, but as time went on I really admired the way he went about it and I remember him now as almost a favourite.
