You would imagine first innings points to NSW will be the result of this game. Tassie should get 6 points and WA are looking likely for 2 points although that could still go either way.

Final Round if as what I expect to happen would leave:

TAS (32) vs NSW (28)
SA (WGAF) vs WA (24)
QLD (20) vs VIC (24)

NSW quotient is not as strong as WA and Vic at this stage although could get stronger after this game (I don't even know how the quotient works???)

By Katich batting on to ensure first innings points he has left the option open of still grabbing top spot and at the same time destroyed any hopes Qld had.

If you look at Baggy Green Aerie, it explains the quotient and how it works. As for batting on too long, the problem is the SCG is a bloody road and without Clark we will struggle to bowl the Bulls out twice.

Queensland's declaration was one of the most silly I've seen in cricket. They would have been better of just batting it out. You never know in cricket, they may have got the runs. But declaring when they did is strange. Did they honestly think NSW were going to set a fair target for them to chase?

Qld fell 10 runs short. Good effort to get that close. MacGill 5/114 but NSW couldn't get a result either with Qld finishing 8 down.

Qld had to declare, they had nothing to gain by batting on, two points was no good to them and they were miles off it in any event. A great game of cricket that just wouldn't have provided as much action if there was another day to go. In the end, the wicket won.

That would have to be the biggest form reversal since 1926-27 when Victoria made 1107 v NSW at the MCG, and then a month later they were bowled out for 35 v NSW at the SCG.

No, I wasn't there. It was the depression and we didn't have any money :)

Actually, it was Don Bradman who scored 452 not out. In this game, Ponsford made "only" 352. Ryder 295, Woodfull 133 and Hendry 100.

Ponsford made two scores over 400. His first was 429 against Tasmania, and then 5 years later made 437 against Queensland in 1927-28.
