Looking back i still wish i hadnt played school sports.
I played football for West Adelaide and cricket for Woodville. Because of this i had two play both at school level. The other kids, who werent any good at sports, could get away with playing only one semester of sport. It is a joke. School sport took away my passion for football because we were so crap and had to play in a standard that was ridicolous.

I tried to play just school cricket, and then club football, but that was not able to occur. Kids should not be made to play school sport the whole year around because hte kid is talented.

Cant have done to bad a job didnt Woodville win the club Championship last season? and make the finals in A grade?
And the one-day final where they were undone by the mighty Seahorses!!!!!

No questions they performed well. More so his failure to be at trainings, social events (including the sportmans night where he was meant to be a guest speaker!) and know anyone other then the A grade or regular B Graders. Not from one players - heard this from a number of peckers.

However, having talent on the field doesn't necessarily mean you have talent to teach others however. I just don't think Luke has the temperament to be a batting coach at this point in time.

I think it's just an easy way for Port to pay to get a player but write it off as a coaching expense.

There was no certainty to Luke playing when he decided to move into a coaching role at Port. The fact that he is likely to play now is a bonus. His experience will be invaluable, and i think going forward he would be a very good mentor to the younger batsmen.

If he does it makes all the whoha Adelaide put on at the end of the season a bit pointless.

Northern Districts ARE looking at setting up base in the Barossa Valley at Gawler Central's Oval. Heard that today at the BLF game. Council met with Northern District officials to plan the oval and pitches on the oval and all set for about 3 years time to leave Salisbury Oval. Will effect BLCA cricket, but i am guessing that the SACA will not really give a toss about that - will happen in 3 or so years as well according to Gawler Central's boys and officials today. Will happen and many of the old Salisbury CC boys are happy about it as well according to the lads today. Reckon other than stuffing up BLCA cricket, it will be a good move. Think that also means moving their training facilities and club facilities their as well.

Don't know that it would ruin B&L cricket. The Jets already get quite a few players from the Barossa. It's their country zone. If they are already identifying the best players now then nothing much will change for the BLCA. Unless they will forego some of their metro zone?

And i would have thought someone from the B&LCA would know something about this. I can assure you jolly joker that there has been no talk of this at all.
And of of all the ovals the dog track would be the last one chosen.
I do however think it is inevitable that the Jets will move further north in the future, perhaps a brand new facility in the new development around Gawler.

Agreed there days, why would they move to the biggest shithole oval in SA, id be looking at Willaston if i was coming up this way, best surface and cricket oval by a mile. Dont know whether baseball has a long term lease there though.

I wonder where all people who want to give themselves useless titles around the club, say there $2 worth and show up when it suits them have gone??
Obviously dont want to be held accountable for idiotic ideas and decisions, and would rather do it behind backs, then be held accountable/responsible!

Lower grades have always been ok, even back when I played... surely that adds up to future success but what happened?

Nah just don't rate the school rules. I played cricket and footy at club levels, and tried to play other sports such as chess and badminton, but wasn't allowed to cause I played club sport in another code. Yet, kids who didn't play club sport only had to play one semester of sport and could be of whatever they wanted.

Not sure how that's rating myself, just pointing out the fact that school sport took away my passion for certain sports.

I hope your taking the piss a.chucka... because ill think youll find a lot of grade cricketers had to give up thier club cricket respective of grade cricket to pursue thier interests of school cricket!!!! as much as they would have loved to play for thier club, i dare say they would have also looked for alternate options and they would have been granted them had thier first XI coaches allowed them, but as i know from a stint at rostrevor... Harty wouldnt have allowed that and most coaches from other senior cricketing schools wouldnt either, with an exception for the last term of your yr 12 schooling, and i dare say a lot of other coaches wouldnt allow it... at the end of the day if your a decent cricketer the school will not give two shakes about your ability as a chess/badminton/squash/dominos/beer pong player they know your worth as a sportsmen and they want to spend your parents thousands of dollars to prove that
