Yeah, that's what I meant.
Oh...it looks like I said "A Broadbridge"...I know Sammy, but only see him every now and then ie when he's giving extraordinarily MASSIVELY long speeches at 21st's!
Just wasn't sure if he was committed to Maggies or not.

He's trying to think of a way to say that country b grade is better than central a grade so he can back up his claim about playing a much higher grade than central a grade.

Good to get Shanty and Mt Barker trips over early too.

On the road trip theme, how are people looking forward to the Birdwood trek. **** it's a long way to go. Anyone know what the oval and facilities are like? I've only driven through 1 or 2 times.

Involved in a school game there, it is a massive oval, as wide as long, and deeper pockets than the Lofty President! Good oval to kick straight down the guts.

Yeah if my memory serves me correctly it's a pretty good oval, provided it's not boggy. I remembe playing on it when i was a wee little cabbage cutter. One end jacks up a bit(yes like a velodrome) but from about centre half forward it's dead flat...it'll definately be one of the better central ovals, as i said, provided it doesn't rain too much...but let's be honest here, i don't think there would be a league in australia with worse ovals overall than Hills Div 1...ahh shit sorry, very sorry, i 'mean hills central!!
Thoughts?

What about some of those gravel ovals in Alice Springs?

Or those ovals in Salisbury made up of syringes and crack pipes?

yes some of the ovals can turn to rubbish after rain but than again how many other leagues would get as much rain as the hills!

Well you're right DA, didn't give much consideration to NT, also Ron good point about the rain although i'm sure they get similar amounts in VIC, not sure what their ovals turn out like though. I guess i was commenting more on the size shape and slope of many of our smarvellous ovals...I mean bridgey is definately one of a kind. Not that i'm having a go here, it adds charater if anything and you definately get used to them, not your standard ovals though...is is amateur footy though i huess

I've played during the wet season and their ovals went alright. Mind you, it'd p#ss down for a day, then be as sunny as anything. Tropics are crazy!
It can make it a unique facet of hills footy, but I reckon it has hindered it more than anything.
Dutchy - if there's something that Coco's NOT, it's half arsed. He does like to finish a job well!

Thoughts on central Lofty, Uri's, Onkas and maybe Blackwood main contenders the rest make up the numbers. ( any truth that lofty picked up handy ruckman from west's)
Country seems a little more interesting as far as there are atleast 5 clubs that are stronger than last year. Kangarilla hot fav with Meadows, TV, Kerbrook (with james boys) and by all reports Nairne have recruited very strongly. seems a more open comp this year.
