Away with the......PIXIES!!!

Postby Leaping Lindner » Mon Feb 12, 2007 12:17 pm

Confirmed in this AM's HUN The Pixies are playing Melbourne April 4th at the Myer Music Bowl for the V Festival. \:D/

This is on top of dates already confirmed by the band's my space page.....

31st March 2007 - V FESTIVAL - Centennial Park (Sydney)

1st April 2007 - V FESTIVAL - Avica Resort (Gold Coast)

5th April 2007 - ROCKIT Festival - Arena Joondalup (perth)

7th April 2007 - Southern Roots 2007 - Royal Hobart Showgrounds

No mention of Adelaide BUT my contact who told me last year The Pixies were playing "the bowl" in April (so he's on the money) says they are playing Adelaide April 3rd. No idea of a venue at this stage.

If you like alternative music don't miss this. These guys are the best alternative band of the last 25 years. :prayer:

Some of the punkers on this site might be interested to know the New York Dolls are going to be wheeled out for the Sydney & GC V Festivals.
Oh, and Beck too (Hansen not Hewitt).

Pet Shop Boys eh?
'GO WEST'
I could chuck in a few obvious pillow biter jokes here (re. John Laws)
but I'd probably offend some of the more politically correct posters on this forum!

Interesting that all flags and banners have been officially banned from V Festival. Where is the front page news article

Also if you are planning on going to the Adelaide event and haven't got a ticket it would be a good idea to get one soon as ticket sales have been very very slow and their is a chance it could get canned unless they pick up soon.

show
I feared that...Got my tix for both nights but they really mucked up splitting the bill over two nights, week nights too making it even worse.

The Pixies are one of my all time favourites but I doubt they would be well known enough to pack out the Drive. They should if the world made any sense but the sad reality is they never got played on mainstream media and would have what some would call a 'cult' following. The Pet Shop Boys show should sell a lot better with Groove Armada and Gnarls Barkley.

All you butch he-men bagging PSB should read Pet Shop Boys Versus America - one of the funniest books I've ever read.

I just don't think there is enough demand in Adelaide, made worse by people going interstate for the festival. Plus its fairly expensive and given that there has been a fair bit on in Adelaide of late so not everyone can afford it.

I was hoping they would pack both nights outs, you never know people in Adelaid emake the mistake of leaving it to the last minute to buy tickets so perhaps over the next couple of weeks things might pick up.

Much as I really really hate to admit it, I can't imagine there would be any more than a few hundred Adelaideans who would be into the Pixies enough to pay $100 to see them on a Tuesday night. Hope I'm wrong...

Would be more suited to a club gig. Either that or merge the two shows together.

Today's Advertiser states those old farts the 'New York Dolls' are playing in Adelaide too! (Pixies show)
Tuesday night's a bit of a bitch but well worth it to see a slice of Rock n' Roll history live on stage!
Incidentally the New York Dolls are the band responsible for inspiring the likes of KISS & the plethora of clones that followed!

I would be truly devastated if they canned it. Bloody hell, if Frank Black can pack out the 'Synagogue' surely the Pixies ++ will do aok at Mem Drive.

Yo La Tengo tonight at Fowlers which should be corker. Anyone else going?

I preferred them when they rocked out, before they disappeared up their own cakeholes
