Finially got my team firing. Changed my captain from Ablett to Sandilands at the last minute Friday. A move that cost me an extra 100 points!

Round 6 Previews

REBCats vs. The Ginger Ninjas

The Ninjas are in career best form...or at least they were up to a couple of weeks ago until Captain Gingernuts pulled one of the clangers of the year by naming Spudtippett as his skipper. I can't be that lucky for Ginge to pull something that silly again but Ginge has gone off the ball and is dilly dallying about whether or not to trade and I smell fear. REB's Tip - REBCats.

Hawkeye vs. FOOTYLEDGENS

Woggy and The Cubman are Premier league veterans but perhaps one of these two coaches might not be here next year and it may be the team that loses this match. Cubby has been held back by the truly awful form of Brad Green and Alan Didak and Hawkeye has endured a fairly tough early draw. I reckon Cubby can sneak over the line and put Hawkeye on the endangered species list. REB's Tip - FOOTYLEDGENS

Darksiders SCE vs. chardy socialists

The chardies have improved a great deal this season and look set to escape the relegation zone for the first time. If they could pull off the upset here against the league leaders that would establish the chardies as a credible force in this league. I reckon he might come up a bit short though even though the Dark Side has a heap of Gold (Coast) on his bench. REB's Tip - Darksiders SCE

Dusty Tunnels vs. Hondominators YSCC

Hondo is not firing on all cylinders at the moment and Cover King's Dusty Tunnels has the combination to take advantage of this rare opportunity. For those of you who played in Div I last year you might remember at one stage Hondo was 0-4 before roaring back to take the flag. Trying to do that in this league might be a bigger ask so Dusty has a chance to strike a line through the number one seed and I reckon he'll do just that. REB's Tip - Dusty Tunnels.

Boxhead United vs. Squeakeroos DTC

Squeaky has yet to fire at this level and the win-loss record remains in the red even though this team has been scoring well. Squeaky was dead stiff to lose to the bottom side last week while recording the second highest score of the round and it is these type of results that can cost your team a finals berth. United for their part look to have reached their level and will do well to avoid falling into the relegation zone. This week Squeaky will be the mouse that roared. REB's Tip - Squeakeroos DTC.

Blue_Guns vs. Far Q

Unlike last year the Q Man has been on fire in Hogg Premier. Second on the ladder and feeling pretty good about himself life is good at Far Q Park. This week they play the Blue_Guns who should recover some of their scoring power after suffering during Carlton's bye last week. The Guns are somehow 3-2 despite not really firing a shot but they'll need to do so to see off the Q Man this week. REB's Tip - Far Q

Mr Football vs. Woody Dropkicks

Pup has been kicking the cat lately when it comes to his team and this week he plays Woodys Dropkicks who finally kicked a goal last week. Pup is sitting in the eight but must be starting to look over his shoulder a bit as his side has recorded a few lowish scores now. The only way appears to be up for Woody who might be able to get on a bit of a run now. REB's Tip - Woody's Dropkicks.

dunKsKrew vs. Poon Army

In the Ginger Ninjas vs. REBCats preview I mentioned I could smell fear but perhaps it was Hammo's fear and not Gingernuts' that permaeates the atmosphere. The Army are absolutely reeking of the stuff as he is having a very tough time trying to work out what dunKsKrew may or may not produce. Duncs found the winning formula last week and with Hammo trying to solve the problem of what to do with injured Essendon players I reckon he can back up with another one. REB's Tip - dunKsKrew.

My fantasy tipping is worse than my footy tipping so if I've tipped against you start the Champagne corks popping! Happy Hogging.

regards,

REB

Bad luck CK

Yes, you needed about 280 from Libba, Darling and Boyd and they almost got there. Only 12 short

Had the Doggies not been belted you would have got up.

I expected more from Shaw today but you would have been the same with Johncock. It was neck and neck all weekend!

The Q Man went to the head of the queue this week with an outrageous 2602 to spank the luckless Blue_Guns by nearly 350 points. There were a couple of cracking matches in Hogg Premier this week with Gingernuts dropping his third straight match despite recording an excellent score of 2433..only 25 points short of victory. Even closer was the match up between Hondo and CoverKing with the Hondominators getting the chocolates by a mere 13 points. Dusty Tunnels was another unlucky coach to lose despite cracking 2400 plus.

Mr Football and a resurgent Woodys Dropkicks also had a massive game with Woody saluting to the tune of 48 points. Hawkeye won the relegation zone battle against FOOTYLEDGENS and it's now starting to look a bit desparate for the Cub. Woody and Hawkeye climbed out of the danger zone and chardy and United dropped right into it. I can't see much joy in Division I next year for those teams so the time is now.

Yeah i thought Johncocks first half deserved alot more, and you probably thought the same with Shaws second half.

Doggies only lose by 50 points and i win. Libba and Boyd downgraded by 15 points from the herald sun website... Another good game between us. Will hopefully get you back in the finals!

Um, you are less than two hundred ahead for the whole season. You will be the one in trouble if I ever learn to pick a decent skipper DOH. FWIW I reckon that our part of the draw is the tough one with Gingernuts firing up as well. Poon Army looks a nice juicy target. He's hardly had a point scored against him all season.

Yeah but that gap will grow. Just need you to stop picking me so i can win some games ;) I think we have an easier run home then most, not that any of the games will be definite wins.

And your not the only one with the skipper problem. Have only had it right once all year, and that was Swan against the Tigers!

Round 7 Preview

REBCats vs. FOOTYLEDGENS

The Hogg Premier father-son battle is on again with both of us not feeling really confident about victory. On paper I have the LEDGENS covered but he has Dustin Martin and Jack Riewoldt ready to tear into the Powerpuffs and with me holding back on the trades this week I reckon that the FOOTYLEDGENS might just scam his first Premier League win over the REBCats. Clearly it’s time to revoke Cub’s Internet priveliges!

Hawkeye vs. The Ginger Ninjas

The Ninjas badly need a win all of a sudden after following up a 3-0 start with three straight losses. Gingernuts has been in fine scoring form and all of his losses this season have been by narrow margins. Hawkeye, for their part have been battling their way through the year and they have just managed to keep out of the danger area. With consistency an issue, I reckon that Ginge should be able to take out Hawkeye here.

Darksiders SCE vs. Hondominators YSCC

The Darkside hasn’t done much wrong so far this season but they’ve been a bit like Geelong only just getting over the line in a couple of key matches. This will be a high quality match that Hondo simply can’t afford to lose. Hondo is coming off a tight win over Dusty Tunnels and this week it doesn’t get much easier. The Darksiders SCE have been kissed on the dick so far this year but this week they’ll blow it and Hondominators YSCC will end the Dark Side’s unbeaten run.

Dusty Tunnels vs. chardy socialists

The chardies improved form in 2011 is not yet translating itself into victories but they are having a much better season than in 2010. Despite the vast amounts of hot air emanating from Cover King, the victories aren’t exactly flowing for Dusty Tunnels either with the newly promoted side a respectable rather than dazzling 3 and 3 for the year. A win here would give Tunnels a handy 4-3 record at the turn but a loss would really put them on the back foot. Chardies have the cattle to pull off the upset but to Cover King’s undoubted horror, I’m selecting Dusty Tunnels for the victory this week.

Boxhead United vs. Far Q

Q Man has been most impressive so far this season and looks set to continue on his winning ways against a Boxhead United side that is looking more and more out of its depth in this league with each passing week. Even during last week’s scoring bonanza United couldn’t get warm so unless Boxhead has gotten some Long Johns out to his team at training this week then all I can see is a long cold winter and a Far Q victory.

Blue_Guns vs. Squeakeroos DTC

The Blueys promising start to the season has grown as stale as grandad’s farts and just like grandad his form is now well and truly on the nose. The Blue_Guns are well down on last year’s output and at the same time Squeaky’s output is up. Squeakeroos DTC are starting to flex their muscles a bit and should be able to put the squeeze on the Blue_Guns.

Mr Football vs. Poon Army

Like Cameron Fry in Ferris Bueller’s Day off, it’s time Mr Football made a stand. Pup has had a frustrating time of it so far this season with not a lot of luck going his way. Meanwhile Poon Army has had more arse than Elton John. However, Poony’s luck appears to have deserted him this week. With Essendon on the bye and with no Rucks and no Enright, surely Mr Football will salute in this one. Let my Cameron go!

dunKsKrew vs. Woody's Dropkicks
Woody has lived up to his name and stood up in recent weeks as this potential Premier League giant has finally kick-started his season. Even if Woody were to drop back a little he still have more than enough fuel to burn off dunKsKrew whose renaissance only appeared to last for just the one week. Woody's Dropkicks will get the job done here and go on to record a comfortable win.

Happy hogging. Cub get off the computer!

Thanks guys lets get behind the SAfooty rep!

He is missing Enright and we both have 2 suspect rookies playing in defence (me Smith/Puopolo v him Jacobs/Stanley - I have Jacobs and Stanley on my bench so I hope these starting rookie choices don't kill me).

I brought in Luke Hodge which is a POD against our very similar midfields (both have Judd, Swan, Pendles, Selwood). Hodge v his Harris. He doesn't have Chapman either. It would help if Zac Smith could pull out a shocker but that seems unlikely.

Anyway it's too close to call.
