One thing for certain is Glenelg improved their efficiency in attack after being ranked #9 in the competition after last round - 25 goals from 64 inside 50s is an awesome effort, after kicking only 7 from 54 last week.

Can Sturt actually play out a game with at least 2 players left on the bench ? Tonight again decimated by injury and the last quarterat least had only 17 fit players.

Sturts season gone officially and I was not impressed with Glenelg in the first half their skills are as bad as Sturts.Poor crowd too.

Hard to tell how good Glenelg are, they're certainly not 9 or 10 goals better than Sturt. It was relatively easy for them to rack up goals at the end as we only had 17 men on the ground for the last thirteen minutes and Angus Kurtze hadn't been able to run for at least ten minutes before he walked off.

I think Glenelg kicked 8.8 or something very close (7.3 to 15.11) to that while our score stood still on 8.4. We were losing men then, but the Bays were the better side, but perhaps 4 or 5 goals better.

Sturt missed Sheedy terribly; it's scary to think how dependent they are on him.

I believe the injury to Stokes may be an ACL, don't know about Thomson but he also came off on a stretcher, Hurley did his hammy (didn't look too bad) in his first game for yonks and Kurtze appeared to hurt the knee that he's already had trouble with this season.

On the positive side I thought Hingey was very good against his old side, as was Matt Duldig until he came off for that pizza, but overall it's a good time to have a bye methinks.

well done to the whole team on a complete effort, however i was critical of cameron hitchcock last week when he made an error of judgement, he responded & came out tonight & played his best game for the club at league level, well done cameron, i thought all the youngsters played well & were pivotal in the match, 25 goals will win most matches but unfortuneately in this day & age 16 goals will win a heap of matches as well, we must get the defence stronger, i did think the move of kirk onto duldig was a smart move as dogger is too strong for rudolph, i thought in budget order our best players (all of them) were grima, kirk, allen, HITCHCOCK, lally especially after half time, kennedy, hender especially early & many others performed admirably....it is amazing what you can do when you run, take risks & go long...however next weeks clash wont be as an open affair as tonights so our effort will have to rise again, i can't see how most of the replacements in tonights game can be dropped for the more experienced players next week (if they are available) so selection dilemmas arise, unless some play for the state team

ps, how cool are some of these young players stepping up to league footy ?

i thought sturts best players were duldig (early), martin, craig evans, hinge & to sturts credit they never ever gave up

Duldig kicked 3 goals early then taken off.

Last week against South, Norman did the same thing early (Duldig I dont think kicked any).

Whats the plan with Duldig.....just a part time player?? I would have thought kicking 3 early then getting taken off for a rest of the game would not be the best for ones confidence.

Serious question, as I dont get why you would have your main goal kicker on the bench when he should be out there kicking a "bag" of goals for you. (unless he was injured??)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

It did seem a little pointless taking Duldig off, particularly as he was probably back on within two minutes. Would've used up more energy running off than he would've if he stayed on.

POP QUIZ!

You're a cheer squad for a SANFL team with a reasonable following. You turn up on a Friday night with plenty of members, plenty of flags, and a banner with the team's name to affix to one of the southern stands. Your team plays mostly like cr@p, and by the 14 minute mark of the final term it's clear that your team is going to get an embarrassing pasting. What do you do?

1. Stand your ground, break into song, cheer each rare goal loudly, and generally get right behind your team, adding colour and noise to the game.

2. Stay silently 'til the end of the match, clapping each goal politely but without passion, not wanting to abandon your team.

3. Bugger off silently and meekly, taking flags, floggers and even the banner affixed to the grandstand, so that the few remaining goals kicked by your mediocre team are met with deathly silence, and the empty seats left by your vacation sticking out like a sore thumb, a stark testament to your lack of backbone.

They did the same when they played against us and to think one of their members had a crack at crows fans for leaving early.

Oh FFS....

Memo to Adelaide Oval staff:

TURN IT DOWN YA MORONS

Scared off by too many decibels of Motorhead (*) at half time, I wandered to get a coffee. At the coffee van, at about the 50 m mark at the other end of the ground, and shielded by the grandstand - the sound balance was just about right.

(*) - it was Motorhead, wasn't it? The voice sounded like Lemmy but I didn't recognise the music.
