Good to have some SHOC reps on here. They were most impresive on Saturday and its going to take a good team to beat them.

One question i have for the SHOC guys is how do they get all there teams on the track for training!

It's my understanding that we recruit the kids straight out of the college, hence the numbers, and we have a great culture at the moment. There's five teams with up to 20 blokes being rotated through our E Grade so if people don't train, they don't play.

It's a bit difficult having 130 blokes on the training track on the same night but we're managing it (D's and E's start at 6.45pm!!).

I complex system of whistles and flag marshals ensure people are in the correct spots for training

SHOC won't lose a game in either grade all season in Div 7

Athelstone have picked up the quitting Plympton 'C' grade coach and a heap of players have followed him

How can one player be named both in D1R and D7?

Looks to be a couple named in each grade...maybe waiting to see how injured players pull up or maybe they might get called into work? :-??

Potentially, especially with the E grade playing tonight, C/D at Angle Vale then the A grade also playing at night. There could be a bit of a mess with availability.

Yeah, the match day programs...

Daniel Noske, for example, is named in both the Div7 and Div1R Tea Tree Gully teams.

Pretty standard E Grade side for us, a few boys have gone up to the D Grade though. The boys have organised a bus trip out there tonight, should be a good match.

Ventured out to Petaringa oval yesterday to watch TTG vs MP. Fantastic game in the end with the gullies just getting the choccies. Very high scoring and free flowing game of footy. Must say i was very impressed with MP after getting my first look at them. They should do very well this season and probably could have stolen the game if they converted there chances. Full credit to the gullies though, very hard fought win.

Thanks Mr Butterworth for your kind words. Good to see you enjoyed the game.

Still very raw for me. One of the most disappointing losses I have ever played in. Could have gone either way and shall we say that a few chances were converted by Mitchell Park but perhaps not recorded and one or two TTG goals were recorded but perhaps weren't actually converted ;)

Still we should have been up by plenty more at 3/4 time to make that sort of stuff irrelevant. Credit to TTG, we could never shake them despite being regularly up by 1-2-3 goals. They came home like a steam train and we couldn't stop them.

Umpiring was an absolute shambles. For both sides. My opponent told me that they were the same ones that umpired the ML/TTG game and that similar crap occurred. I am normally measured with my posts on umpires and the like as they more often than not do an OK job considering their experience/age/fitness but on Saturday they exhibited a repeated, systematic, basic lack of understanding of the game. It wasn't missing free kicks or being in the wrong position, it was seeing it, processing what happened and blatantly making the wrong call.

1. If a player ducks in a tackle at the last moment, it is not a head high free kick. I know we nicked a couple of goals from that one.
2. If a player sees an opposition tackle coming, bends down and gets tackled around the waist whilst his head is in the guys stomach - it is not a head high free kick.
3. If a player attempts a mark, does not put his hands on his opposition and touches the ball, it cannot be "in the back" - even if it was spectacular.
4. Players need more than 0.002 milliseconds to dispose of the ball - it is not holding the ball if they get tackled immediately upon gaining possession.

We had a trainee kid aged all of 15 for the Flinders game. He did a great job compared to the umpires on Saturday. I think some re-training needs to be attempted.

Was he wearing a hat? If so he's a disgrace and loves having the attention on him, worst in the SAAFL by a country mile!
He's big on your point no.4...he's had many complaints sent in about him but as you can see nothing gets done about him, he's a joke and ruins games of footy.

Looking at the Umpire appointments for you game Morell, im not surprised on the umpire issue.

If you are talking about a umpire who normally wears a hat and umpires from the same spot and overrules the other umpire numerous times, I used to have him years ago and he should of quit then!
