I noticed the other week he did the old Jarman trick of talk up the AFL listed player who tore his side apart. If the heirarchy at North aren't wishing they'd not gone down that track again perhaps they should.

Well he is only a part time coach despite being on good $$$ so unless it directly affects his coaching / commitment to North then he is entitled to seek extra $$$ through media work. His media work is not the reason why North are bottom - his and Greg Edwards selection of recruits and not addressing some depth at Prospect are the problems and the Board needs to take them to task over this ASAP.

I thought you defended the club's recruiting pre-season when one poster suggested North hadn't recruited well. You asked if he didn't think Hill and Miles were quality recruits.

Miles has been our only decent recruit to date and I rate Hill and can't work out why Francou won't play him as he thinks he lacks versatility but how versatile does a 6 ft 6 inc ruckman have to be - he is better 2nd ruckman than Mason who could at least be used down back for his height and size. Jury is out on Backwell - looked ok in a couple of games but has missed the last 3 with a hammy. We were unlucky with Fenton who would be in our best 21 and would add bulk to the midfield.

However the rest are / were rubbish but I suppose you can't comment until you see them? Having said that we may not see Paley due to his injuries - can't believe we recruited him and then allowed him to have a major operation???

So yes I do rate Miles and Hill.

IIRC Norwood had 0 AFL players in it's losing Grand Final team last year. Rodan and Thomas (Power) were ineligible, Young (Crows) was injured and Walker was stuck 1 game short of qualification after he was poised to be dropped and qualify. (Nathan Bock declared his love for the GC Suns, Neil Craig dropped him and Walker never got the extra game needed to qualify for SANFL finals. Might have been interesting if he had played the GF!).

To be fair, I don't recall that Centrals were inundated with AFL players either - perhaps a Dogs fan could confirm this.

Bays had none in 2008
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

We had Gunston, can't think of any others. I think Symes qualified but wasn't allowed to play (could easily be wrong).

Is there a prize at the end of the year for most posts or something? Seems like some just write post after post of meaningless bullshit every minute of the day on every thread.

Well I have been "critical" of him in a couple of areas on a number of threads:

(1) Refusal to play a genuine back up ruckman - he recruits 6 ft 6 inch tall David Hill, plays him in the first game, drops him, brings him back then drops him and states he is not versatile enough. In a side that has had it's depth tested by lack of talls - he plays Mason as 2nd ruck yet he would be better placed in defense to give us some size?

(2) The poor recruiting - which both the coach and the Football Manager, Greg Edwards have to take the bulk of the blame for. Only Todd Miles can be considered a successful recruit. I was told that because of the $1.7 million the club is spending at Prospect - expenditure was tightened howeve rsince can confirm we are paying up to the max in the cap so lack of $$$ is not the issue and nor should it be given North's income!

At least his game plan is more positive than Healy's ever was but our start 1-6 comes down to experience and finishing and in reality apart from the South game (and maybe last Saturday) we could have just as easily won 4 other games but alas we didn't so no point dwelling on it.

We will judge Francou at season's end and as to how he gets us off the bottom moving forward and hopefully $$$ are thrown at getting decent recruits in terms of size, strength and experience across the board, not the dud's that most of the 2011 recycled recruits have turned out to be!
