Just from watching on the box:
Game never quite lived up to what I was expecting.
Centrals never looked like losing from the first bounce, and even though the scoreboard looks close, in general play it felt like a 7 goal margin.
Eagles were disappointing. Looked slow by comparison. Reckon there were a few players who at times gave the impression of chasing. Little spark. Not a lot to write home about apart from the efforts of Lewis, Rowntree, Jarrad, Treeby at times, and a few good moments by second-gamer Bately.
Umpiring was generally pretty good, the usual one or two either way. Most of the time they seemed to have the commonsense to let 50-50's go and let the players do their thing rather than imposing themselves unneccesarily on the game.

Again, we don't seem to have adressed our lack of pace or have players who can break the lines. Towards the end of last year we had Smith and Polec who could do this, plus Thompson providing some dash from the back. Everyone knew it was only matter of time before we lost these blokes.
If the Bays get their act together, we could easily be looking at fighting it out for 5th spot.

Eagles way too many skill errors and our forwards applied zero pressure to centrals coming out of defence
Badly need Salter as a target up forward
One tall short in defence today as well.
Stewart will be with us for awhile given his display and probable injury

Hoped that Woodville would take it up more to the Dogs today in spite of it being at the Ponderosa. Woodville threw everything at Central and came up well short. Not sure what Godden can do from here though?

A solid win against the umps/Eagles. The scoreline really flattered the Eagles with our 26 scoring shots to their 17.

After Centrals dominated the first quarter, the Eagles resorted to their trademark 'play for free kicks' game plan, and it worked. Not only were the Eagles getting an armchair ride for the umps, several blatant frees for Centrals were missed. As a result, the Eagles were able to get back in the game. However, they could never get closer than 15 points and Centrals did what they needed to do to get the 2 premiership points, joining West Adelaide in a break up the top of the ladder.

I do wish South didnt persist with this stupid idea of emphasising Panthers over the name South Adelaide and perhaps its easier to keep it consistant and go with a name to describe the club as opposed to a logo.

Overall, the dogs looked far and away a better side than the Eagles. Dogs had contributions from all over the park without, I felt, having any player have a really great game. Sansbury, Thomas, Goodrem, Obst, Hayes I thought were good without being spectacular. Bodes well given a few blokes are going to press claims to get into the team before the year ends. Milne battled away again as he does, but unless he's getting involved in general play he's not really much use. Hardly gets any hitouts and often concedes hitouts to advantage. Especially to strong bodied rucks. I like him, and think he'll regain his place should he lose it by the end of the year, but he's got to be on the edge now.

For the Eagles, it was just Lewis, Jarrad and Parry then a bunch of passengers. Grocke looked likely for much of the day but in the end had little impact McKenzie/Powell/Treeby/Petrenko/Stewart bobbed up on occasions but went missing far too often. I know Treeby kicked goals, but unless he's become a goalsneak he needs to provide more drive. Haing said that, I think he's a far better forward than midfielder so I take back any criticism if he has been moved forward. Batley kicked a couple of very nice goals I thought. Clean, precise and fast, not a bad prospect.

But the game was played on the dogs terms from the first bounce. The tougher the game got, the more the Eagles looked outclassed.

Good to see Chad get through his return game. Looked every bit like he'd not played league for 20 months, but he'll get better. The run seemed to be there still, the skills and confidence will follow. But hope Nash is ok. The fact he never budged though makes you fear the worst.

Would have to agree with all the comments so far. The end margin flattered the Eagles - completely outplayed. Really only moments in the game at the centre bounce where the Eagles got on top of the clearances with Parry/Lewis/McKenzie/Powell in there - otherwise we looked second rate.

The Eagles were exploited with hard running and smart movement of the footy - it seemed we were torn between playing zone or man on man on so many occasions and Central saw easily through that. Whether that's a lack of discipline or being completely disorganized, I'm not sure.

A few players who were starting to build a reputation went backwards today and that is a huge concern. It was left up to the usual McKenzie, Jarrad, Parry, Lewis, Grocke, Grieger and Powell who did most of the hard work for us.

Some promising signs in the second half from Batley (I hope he gains confidence and continues to back himself at this level) and I thought Goldsworthy tried hard for most of the game.

Tiller must go back to reserves/rest out of the game because he shows nothing. Day needs to bounce back straight away or he'll go the same way - was thrashed by his opponent today and gave barely a yelp.

Back to the drawing board! Must beat West next week.

Yes we were soundly beaten. Every other poster seems to have summed up the game correctly. I strongly doubt you watched the game properly. Ridiculous post.

Yeah pretty much agree with whatever one said. Felt pretty comfortable all day but the Eagles never went away which is a trademark of that football club.

The Dogs dominated across their backline and ran the ball out with ease setting up many oppurtunties down the field.

Will be tough to replace Nash and Hardy who were both injured. Also wouldnt be surprised to see Symes back with the Crows next week.

Some interesting rumours as well floating around about the Matty Westoff situation.
